Rear Driverside Brake Light Sporadic

I have been told that my rear driver side brake light is not working; however, just today I was blitzing down the road and my buddy said it wasn't working when I zipped around the corner, but when I slowed down to pull into the Applebees he said it was working. I have checked the brakes while parked and they work great. All bulbs light up and even stay that way with someone pushing on the brake pedal and me wiggling the wire assembly in back. I have had the tail light assembly out a number of times to check for bad contacts etc..., but everything seems ok. Why would the brakes work differently driver-to-passenger side? Are there different grounds and/or adjustments from the brake pedal? Any help is appreciated!

Thanks,
Jeff

The brake light circuits are also routed through the turn signal switch. You may want to investigate that.

Merlin,
I guess I could look into that...the tricky part is going to be figuring out why they are only working when I am parked. They work 100% of the time when I am in the driveway or parking lot, unfortunately I can't tell when I am driving down the road when they are working and when they stop. Does anyone have a wiring diagram for the electrical circuits...particularly the brakes?

Thanks!
Jeff

Well for my rear brake light problem I have discovered that the problem is somewhere within the steering column because I can cause the brake light to go off and on by moving the steering wheel up or down. Now the fun part begins!

The problem ended up NOT being in the steering wheel column afterall. After looking at the wiring diagram for the brakes and tracing things out I found a yellow wire in a connection assembly just forward and under the steering wheel column covers (had to remove another cover to get at it) that was just barely sticking out. It seems that the previous owner had someone install a CD changer which had wires running around this area and the installer must have did something to pull this yellow wire slightly out of the connector. This loose connection gave me my "sporadic working lights". All is well now that the wire is snuggly back in place!
