temp guage wire question

Engine: 5.7L
Transmission: T-56
Axle/Gears: 3.70
temp guage wire question

i have an 89 iroc. should there be any volts to the temp wire on the drivers side head, with the ign on??

If you meter the wire while it is unplugged from the sensor, you should get something close to 12VDC. I'm not certain of the internal resistance of the gauge, so I can't guess what the voltage would be with the sensor connected at any given temperature.
