Help with Battery Relocation Kit / Disco Switch

Hi All,

I am getting the girlfriend to buy me a battery relocation kit and possibly a disconnect switch for my birthday (not bad, i knoe lol) from summit or someone.
I have a few questions that need clarifying by people who know more about this (and may have done it):

Is an aluminium batt case superior to a plastic battery case? (i'm concerned about shorting the thing out when i disconnect the terminals, while the plastic one may not be as strong)????

Which brings me to the next question, will a battery disconnect switch solve the potential short probs when i need to disconnect the batt?

Mad Electrical recommends 1 guage term wire and has a system that only holds current when cranking the starter. Anyone used such a kit?

Thanks for reading and helpin out!!!

Cheers
