Re: Sequential Turn Signals...round 2
You have separate amber turn signals from red brake lights. You would have to modify your turn signals the same way all Camaro folks would: by turning the amber lense into a red lense (paint - been done - do a search) and also by rewiring the taillights and replacing the multifunction switch on the steering column.
it should be as easy as replacing (not rewiring) the multifunction switch in the steering column with a GTA switch which would turn your amber turn signals into brake/turn combined lights.
Then you would need to modify your lenses because, of course, your amber turn signals cannot be used for brake lights!
And once you're in the middle of rewiring the taillights, installing an STS unit would be as easy as hooking up each STS half to the two turn signal wires.
The STS unit can be installed and wired up in 10 minutes if you don't care how well it's done. But if you take your time and do it right, it can take up to an hour.

I don't know a wrench from a hammer when it comes to wiring, so even replacing the multifunction switch is way over my head (I don't have any electrician friends either ).
How does the STS unit get hooked up? Is soldering involved because that is also new ground to me.
Would I have to do this for my Camaro? How difficult is it? Just take off the lense and put in a different bulb?

Really though. I "dumb the instructions down" as much as I can, along with the wiring diagrams. Feel free to email me during install with questions.

Re: Sequential Turn Signals...round 2
If I only paint the inside of the light will it still look amber from the outside, but red when I hit the brakes? Will I have to paint the outside of the light as well if I want it to look red and light up red?
So far I'm thinking I'll wait until the summer to do something with the cosmetic aspect of my car because I want to make sure I have enough money for parts I want/need for autocrossing. I'm still in high school so money is tight to begin with.

Re: Sequential Turn Signals...round 2
We're only making 20 units, and 12 are spoken for, pending payment. We might do a third run, might not. Depends on how the interest goes on this run, If we get enough interest of more than 20 interested people, to justify doing another batch, we might do more.

Re: Sequential Turn Signals...round 2
I'm taking orders now. When the units are ready, I'll be shipping in the order of payments received, not in the order of original interest. The list was only to count the # of people who wanted one.

Please include your Screen Name, whether it's through Paypal or M.O., so I can keep the list straight, and keep the buyer notified of payment received, unit shipped, etc.

Re: Sequential Turn Signals...round 2
If I "held" one for somebody. Then told others they were sold out, then had the person it was being held for, back out. The others might not be interested in anymore, or bought one elsewhere. Wouldn't be the first time it has happened to me.
Like, zipfast was #8 to express interest, but he's #1 on the Paid list, so he gets Unit #1. Sorry...First pay, first shipped.
I can tell you, nobody in your town has ordered one from me yet, if your thinking a local person is giving you one from me..

There's a reason I'm not selling them on FleaBay....Too many crooks, giving it a bad reputation, besides their Seller Fees.
I may have some later, if you don't score on for xmas.

I don't think they'll be gone before Xmas.
I'd bet there will be plenty of units left in January. And if not, who says there won't be more built if there is still interest?

Re: Sequential Turn Signals...round 2
one of the guys i work with just today put a kit on his mustang, got his from some company on ebay.... didnt have any problems so far.... Any change from the original design this round? im not sure if i like the faster speed.... just personal preferance. is there any way to modify this to get a slower speed? or is the problem in the actual flasher relay speed itself?

Re: Sequential Turn Signals...round 2
It doesn't control the speed at all. It is determined by your stock flasher, which is untouched.
The only wiring even touched, are the wires right at the tail lights. Mine is mounted under the rear lights, not even inside the car. If it wasn't for getting to those plastic nuts holding the lens housings on, you wouldn't even have to get inside the car at all, to install one of mine.

That and the reason I'm going with Stephen's kits is because 1.)ebay is much more expensive, + shipping 2) Its pretty much almost garaunteed to work on my Trans Am 3) I'd rather support a fellow "thirdgeneer"

I can do Paypal or M.O. I actually prefer M.O., since there is no fee like Paypal. Pretty soon, I'll be closing my Paypal anyways, and might start a new account, but just a Personal account, so things like this would be free for me.

Originately asked for 10, got 13 before asking for the actual orders, because I knew at least 1 or 2 would bow out. 8 pre-pays...The units will be shipped in the order of payments received.

and 4 M.O. "in the mail", Sorry guys, but I don't quite consider the M.O. as "official" orders, until they are actually in my hand.
And I KNOW of 2 that are out as "potential buyers" now.
But consider them as being built! 9 is close enough to 10, in my mind. They ARE being built, and plenty left from this batch, that are unspoken for, as of now.

I've been taking pre-orders for a week now. So....I WANT YOUR MONEY NOW!!!
Seriously though, we are just over half sold out, with the pre-orders, and there is supposed to be 4 M.O. in the mail meaning, as of Friday, Dec. 7 night, we have 5 left to sell, after the pre-paid orders are filled.

Re: Sequential Turn Signals...round 2
10 available for ordering. The parts are in-route, and they are expected to be ready for shipping mid-January.
As suspected, a couple of the early interested parties backed out, and 1 person who was ordering 2 units, never ordered. I PM'd him to make sure he hadn't sent a M.O., and it had gotten lost. He hadn't, and that was almost 2 weeks ago. Despite the "I'm sending a M.O. tomorrow.", it still hasn't showed.
No matter though. We needed 10 orders to start it, and we got them.
The shipping envelopes are ready & addressed for the first 10. So they'll ship the day they are ready to go.

Is there any way if/when you put this on you could hook it up to a switch so you could switch it from sequential to normal? Or is that a big wiring mod.

Re: Sequential Turn Signals...round 2
There is an F input for each side of the STS. The F stands for "front" turn signal. If that input is grounded, all lightbulbs (on that side) turn on at the same time.
So yes, you could simply just ground that input and go back to the old stock looking configuration.

Yes, that's exactly what I was saying.
Ground the F terminal and that side will be flashing all three at once.

wow, thats some good info to know just in case. I don't plan on installing a switch or anything, but for some reason if it would need to be stock, its nice to know its rather simple...

Re: Sequential Turn Signals...round 2
yeah, I plan on installing new bulbs too... It would be nice to conver to LEDs, but honestly, so far with the technology, I don't like how LEDs tend to produce a rather narrow beam. So I'll stick with the bulbs for now...

Re: Sequential Turn Signals...round 2
I've thought about getting some of these 1157 style LED bulbs...
Considering I'd hafta buy 6 of them, and I already have lots of spare standard 1157 bulbs, it wouldn't exactly be cheap to buy 6 new bulbs.

Re: Sequential Turn Signals...round 2
And as a reminder, if you convert to LEDs, you would need to replace the stock flasher with an aftermarket adjustable unit (or load-independent unit).

Re: Sequential Turn Signals...round 2
yeah, I've seen those multi LED bulbs, but even then, for the most part, they produce a beam only as wide as bulb they're on. A regular bulb will radiate in all directions. Even the "spider LED bulbs" in JC Whitney look like strips of light, rather than a "glow"... and Lou has a point about the stock flashers...

Re: Sequential Turn Signals...round 2
OK guys....We're KINDA on schedule. We got the first 6 orders in the first 4 days, but it took like 2 weeks to get 4 more. I was waiting for a pre-order quantity of 10, and didn't even ask for anybodys money until I got 13, because I KNEW some might back.
But, the parts are in, and the boards are en route. So the estimate is mid Jan. for built & ready to ship units.
I've already got envelopes addressed, install instructions printed out, and they'll be shipped out the DAY they are ready!

Re: Sequential Turn Signals...round 2
I'm taking payments now via Paypal (SteveCranford@Austin.rr.com
), have been, and have 5 unspoken for, as of right now. Sunday, 4:39 pm. I know of 1 M.O. "in the mail" as of Friday. Which would leave 4 unspoken for.

15 out of 20 sold so far? Sounds pretty good I'm guessing you received the rest of the MO's?
