switch from automatic to manual

I recently switched my 87 camaro from auto matic 305 tpi to manual 350 carb. i have a promblem of course. There is 6 wires that went into my automatic shifter on the side for the safety switch so the car couldnt be started unless it was in neutral or park can anyone tell me what wires i need to run to the clutch switch so i dont have to have both shifters in the car to start it thanks .

Re: switch from automatic to manual

There are two big fat wires on one side of the plug, those are the two that go to the neutral safety switch. I think they're purple and green on my car, but I'm not positive. But they're hefty friggin wires. Probably 10 gauge.

The wires are purple and yellow. However, if you look hard enough under the dash, you might just find a connector under there that was put there at the factory but left unused (because your car didn't have the clutch switch).

Also, you need to run the light green and the blue wires (on the neutral safety switch) down to the reverse light switch on the side of the transmission so you have working back up lights.
