trunk pull down issue
I searched all the threads and can't find my problem, My trunk pull down hasn't worked for several years and i'm finally getting to fixing it. I bought a new motor and housing, and figured this would fix my problem but it's still not working. I checked the switch going to the motor with a test light and i have power, and i have power coming out of the switch to the motor, but when i hook the switch to the motor and check the power through the small holes in the switch both posts have power. If i ground one of them with a wire through one of the holes the motor works. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Re: trunk pull down issue
Check your grounds?
As far as I know, There is the motor, a sensor switch on the locking mechanism, and a toggle switch located by the motor housing. Along with a relay.
The sensor switch on the lock mechanism controlls the down action. When the switch senses that the lock is engaged by the latch, the motor travels downward.
Then there's the toggle switch by the motor that stops the hatch at preset travel limits. The toggle is switched by parts on the metal framework. When the motor pulls the hatch far enough down, the toggle is flipped and the motor stops.
When the sensor switch on the locking mechanism senses that the hatch was unlocked, the motor is activated to return the locking mechanism back up to the top. It will travel up untill the toggle is flipped by the travel limit.
It won't travel down untill the latch sensor switch notices that the hatch is secured in the locking mechanism.
Hopefully this helps in explaining how the system works so that you can get a better idea of what might be going wrong.

Re: trunk pull down issue
everything is hooked up and i've checked and everything is grounded, all the wires are where they should be, the only thing i can think of is that it is one of the switches. The one by the latch still shuts off the light and the relay clicks when i check the wires. The toggle switch attached to the motor seems to be working, but that is all i can think that it could be. I'm hoping to get some adivice on some other ideas before i go and buy a new one.
