My manifold switch was hooked straight to the intake manifold behind the carb and in front of the distributor. It seems that is how it was done in 1984. The 1983 models had a vacuum tank on the firewall and a different cruise control set up that the manifold switch was tied into.
Another strange thing is my manifold switch does not have a hole in the top where the vacuum hose goes. So either that is how the switch is suppose to be or something got jammed into it. Maybe some else can tell if the black stem on the top part of the manifold switch has an opening or not.
