So I have an unusual problem. Last week I opted to install led bulbs in my car, put them in the tail lights, I pulled the old flasher out, replaced it with a new one. turn signals work great. Come out the next day, and the brake lights are on, but on like running lights on, not like brake lights on(if that makes sense). Also, the car will not start. All accessories come on. Just will not crank. Battery was low but not enough for nothing to happen. I pulled the brake light switch and disconnected it, and the lights are still on, Just the two brake lights, not any of the other running lights. Ideas? I'm out of em, and its hot which doesnt make this problem any easier...

Re: gremlins

I got the brake lights to go off but as soon as I plug in the brake light switch again they come back on and stay on for awhile, even if I disconnect the switch. Strange

Re: gremlins

ok, another update, now all the brake lights and signals work when the headlights are off, soon as I click on the park lights, the indicator lights up on the dash for left and right, and the blinkers will not work. Please advise, getting closer to figuring this out I think

Re: gremlins

so not I've got everything working fine when the headlights are off, but when I turn them on, The indicators come on, and the blinkers do not work. I have replaced the flasher for the indicators and the hazards with electronic ones. One thing i've also noticed is now the side markers arent coming on with the headlights, but they blink with the hazards. Also there seems to be a drain on the battery all of a sudden.

Any help would be appreciated, Super frustrated!

Re: gremlins

I had a similar problem. My blinkers were acting up when my headlights were on. It turned out to be a bad ground with one of the bulbs. Might be worth it to check.

Re: gremlins

Put the filament bulbs back in to confirm there's nothing wrong with the wiring, turn signal switch, etc. and then go from there.

I'm going to take a stab at it and say you have the incorrect LED bulbs installed, i.e, installing a single filament equivalent LED in a socket that needs a dual filament equivalent.

What exactly are you changing to get the lights to kinda sorta work (like you describe above? It might help to post this also.

well I took your advice and went ahead and put the original bulbs back in the front turn signals and that made everything work again. i'm thinking I have the wrong bulbs, I bought them a long time ago, and just assumed they would work in this setup. Sometimes you have to follow the 2% rule(have to be 2% smarter than the equipment you are working with) So i'm gonna order some correct led bulbs, and give it another whack. No to find the drain. Getting closer.
