Headlamp doors parts question

Car: 87 GTA, 91 Nissan 300ZX 2+2
Engine: 5.7L, 6 banger NA
Transmission: 700R4, Auto
Axle/Gears: 3.27 Posi, no idea
Headlamp doors parts question
My headlight doors won't open, I am positive the solid gel inserts are toast. I know Lon @ top-downsolutions.com sells replacements, but my question is, how long will they last? Are there any options for a metal based solution? I don't want to fix them and in a few years fix them again.

Axle/Gears: 9-bolt 3.27 & PBR

The replacements are tougher than the originals so should last another couple decades or more. Metal may not be a good idea as I think the bushes are designed to fail before some of the other harder to replace components. And they may be like little shock absorbers. ??
