VSS question - simple - not changing gears

Hello I am having difficulty getting a real clear answer for this question. I've went through many forms on here regarding VSS, but can't find my answer.

I have a 1989 Trans am GTA, stock l98, 700r4, 3.27 gears, analog speedometer. I'm not swapping out my rear end. My VSS quit on me. It has the WHITE (36 tooth? I believe) on it's shaft.

now, from reading previous posts, I believe i am in need of sensor or sleeve number: 25007224. This is near impossible to find right now. no one online has it, been searching for weeks.

Heres my question:

yesterday I was actually able to purchase sleeve no. 25007308. I believe this is the one for the larger no. gear teeth

Can I put my white gear on it and install it in the transmission? Ive read things about spinning it 180° to get it to fit. but every example i've read, the person seems to be buying the 25007224 sleeve and turing it the 180.

Will the sleeve I bought work for me just to plug and play?

Thanks, Chuck

Re: VSS question - simple - not changing gears

OK i got some information from the corvette forms. The reason for the 180º turn is because the shaft on the VSS that the gear slides on to is not right in the center of the VSS. It is offset, depending on the size of the gear that will slide on there, in order to make contact with the DRIVING gear.

So even since I ordered the VSS for the larger tooth driven gear, I can most likely rotate my VSS 180º and my smaller tooth driven gear will be able to make contact with my driving gear.

The VSS is in the mail ill post for sure my results when I get it in and get it on
