86 z28 charges when cold but not when warm.
My alternator charges fine when the engine is cool, but Once it gets to operating temperature, it stops charging and starts to discharge. My guess is a bad fan relay kicking on and grounding out, but i dont know. Help?

Probably what is happening the over-temp circuit in the alternator is faulty.
You can swap alternators to find out.

Okay. So i figured it out. The alt needed a new clip plug and the blower motor for the ac/vent is causing a huge draw so thats why it looks like the alt isnt charging.
