Mystery Connector under Dash

Hi guys, need some (hopefully) quick help. Doing my Auto to T5 swap, just got the pedals installed. I was bolting up the steering column, and have a connector like this (single thick red wire with gray connector) coming out of the main harness right above the column. Now, it's been a few weeks since I took things apart, and I can't remember if I disconnected it from something, and if so, what it was running to. I looked all over the fuse block, front-to-back, and couldn't see where it may go to, if anywhere. Can anyone tell me what this connector is? I know it may be to an option I don't have on the car, but I want to make sure what it's supposed to be, if I can tape it up out of the way, or find where it goes.

You may wish to update your profile details so we know what trans, model, year and engine your working with.

Just guessing, red wire near steering column, headlight switch or ignition (switch).

Ok; I didn't think to check the ign switch; is there a single red wire that connects to it? Definitely won't reach the headlamp switch.

Stabbing in the dark at the year, this is an 86.

I just don't know, there is a "y" somewhere, but it very well could be after a single wire connector, or "y" at the connector itself.

I see what you're saying; unfortunately, the columns bolted back up, so it's hard to see if there's a connection point. I may have to drop the column again Friday (next day I actually have free time). Here's some pics of the actual wire and location on the harness. The branch point is right at the column, and if it connects anywhere, it's likely the starter switch, since that's where it will reach. Just would prefer if anyone knows what it's to, so I don't have to drop the column again. Btw, it is an LG4, originally 700r4 86 z28, in case that matters in this case.

Connector

Branch point same as brake lamp wires.

Re: Mystery Connector under Dash

OK, I found this thread:

https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/elec...ht-wiring.html

According to it, this is probably the fog lamp power supply for the factory fog lamps (86-88 Camaros), which if that's the case, I can just tape it back to the harness. Can anyone verify this for sure? Thanks.
