OEM wiring diagram for 1986 Chevy Camaro 5.0, 30ci, Vin H

Anyone who can provide info or link to get a print copy of the electrical schematic diagram for the car. I'm looking specifically on wiring diagrams for the radio/power antenna, horn, and interior dome light. They all don't have power. Somehow lost my OEM repair manual. Thanks for your help.

Not to be mean but...

When I read a post like this, what I see is, "Somebody please go out and spend about $100 of YOURS on a FSM and GIVE ME what I want out of it FOR FREE".

I'm a crusty curmudgeon who BOUGHT (about 35 yrs ago) his own copy of the FSM for his particular car, against just such needs as this.

Buy yourself a FSM. Don't bother trying to call me an a$$ or whatever, it's already been done, and I laughed it off then and will again. OTOH you'll find out 2 things REAL QUICK if you BUY YOUR OWN: (a) you will make up the purchase price, WHATEVER IT IS, the very first time you use it; and (b) give a man a fish and you feed him a meal; teach a man to fish and you feed him for life. Don't EVEN come in here and P&M about being taught how to fish instead of being handed a fish.

Like you when I bought the car 34 years ago, I bought the car new in 1986 , I also bought the official Chevy Camaro service manual from my car dealer HB Chevrolet in New York. If I remember, it was 2.5" thick with a brown softbound cover. I've been moved several times while serving in the Army and the constant moving of my personal belongings keeps tracking difficult especially you can only keep much needed baggage. Honestly, I lost it but I'm hoping it's still in my storage units that I rent. Currently, I own and drive 2 cars and 4 SUVs and don't drive this classic car that much. However, with the COVID-19 pandemic going I felt the urge to do a restoration project on this car to keep me busy.
With that rational explanation if you don't believe me or not, there are good, knowledgeable members like supreme member, Bob88GTA, who responded to my query. And thanks to Google search, I found www.austinthirdgen.org who provides internet free scanned images of wiring diagrams of this old car. Now, I was wondering if any Chevy dealership still sell the OEM official service manual? I want the official 1986 Chevy Camaro Service Manual and please let me know and I'll buy it. Thanks for checking me out.

Re: OEM wiring diagram for 1986 Chevy Camaro 5.0, 30ci, Vin H

I don't think GM has it available. Actually, they didn't for more than acoupla years after the car was new. And really, even then, it was only for the benefit of their franchised sales outlets (aka dealers). After all, GM isn't in the business of publishing books; or fixing busted cars, for that matter, ESPECIALLY not, antique ones. They're in the business of MAKING NEW CARS AND SELLING THEM. That's all.

The manuals were printed by a company named Helm. www.helminc.com I'm not real sure how the commercial aspects of this work/ed, but you couldn't "really" buy the manual from GM, unless GM had bought it from Helm first. Some kinda licensing deal. Weird I know but ... humans, and all that, so, it is what it is. Try them and see what you can get. Otherwise it's ebay or maybe amazon.

I guess it's a good thing they don't think that austinthirdgen.org represents too much of a threat to their revenue stream, or you may be sure, austinthirdgen.org would be getting a call from Helm's lawyers. Companies that spend money to produce something and make it available for sale don't take kindly to having that material distributed without them getting their pound of flesh. And for good reason, being a musician and occasional publisher of misc stuff myself. It's called COPYRIGHT. I like to get PAID for the work I do. They're no different.

Sofa - the old saying has gone through a bit of a modern update.... It is now "Build a man a fire, and he will be warm for the night. Set a man on fire, and he will be warm for the rest of his life" Particularly appropriate for the man about to embark on unknown electrical travels without a map.

I like that. I'm not much of a fan of fishing anyway. But I like setting things on fire. [beavis]fire! fire! heh-heh-heh[/beavis]

This is the manual I've managed to keep.

And in the absence of fishing tackle and/or matches, here's the eBay link.

Yeah, you're right. Helm published the manual but I bought mine from my Chevy dealer in New York City. I also bought the 1986 Chevy Camaro Troubleshooting booklet from them. Hopefully, I will be able to find my manual from the several 100 of boxes of old Army stuff on storage. If I find it I'll post it here to your satisfaction.
Kudos to www.austinthirdgen.org for posting hard to find resource materials to Camaro restorers who are in need of instant access of documents to complete their restoration or troubleshooting efforts notwithstanding a possible threat of copyright infringement from the original publisher. Thanks also to Thirdgen members who are willing to provide info or assistance for specific materials that we members need on our car problems to finish the job. After all we're a Camaro club family, right? That's what we do with my membership with the Las Vegas Cadillac Club & National, www.lasvegasclc.net, www.cadillaclasalleclub.org. Always trying to help a fellow Caddy member.
Thanks again.

1986 Chevy Camaro on restoration one day at a time. Bought 34 years ago from HB Chevrolet, Flushing, New York. Only 90,175 original miles. It served me well during my Army days.

My Army veteran buddy, who owns a Las Vegas, NV auto upholstery shop putting a new headliner on the Camaro on 8/27/2020. Somehow the dome lighting didn't work after the installation, possibly a wiring connection short. That's why I posted on the help thread.

Thanks, Skinny Z, I'll check out the eBay link. But hopefully I'll find my manual from my storage stuff. (Been around your place as significant other is from Calgary).

Interesting. I'm 20 minutes from Castrol Raceway. Hoping next year to get together with some other local board members for some test and tune. I'm closer to Edmonton but I know more members from Calgary. If you're ever in the area with the Camaro....
