FS: Nice high performance 305 $500

Here are the engine specs: 305 LG4 bored out 0.040", 1.94/1.50 58cc GM heads, Comp Cams XE249H, Summit double roller timing chain. Also comes with the stock intake/waterneck and your choice of chrome edelbrock or dart valve covers. This engine has about 10,000 miles on the rebuilt and is in great shape. It is a pretty mean running 305.

$375. For local pickup only in Seward, NE.

Not sure, but it should be better than an L69 engine. I never took it to the track, but it was throwing down low 14's with my G-tech. My buddy has a 95 Mustang Cobra with a 5.0, and it was a pretty good race with that car.

The block was a reman block when I got it. There is still really good crosshatching in the cylinder walls and the whole bottom end was in outstanding shape when I tore it down. I'm guessing it had around 20k on it. The cam and heads have about 10k on them. If the price is right, I suppose I could part it out. I hate to do it because it really is a well-built 305. Casting # on heads is 14014415. I can't get to the casting # on the block, as it is kind of buried in the corner of my garage, and I would have to move a lot of stuff to get to that corner of it. If you are serious though, and need that #, I can get it for you. The only thing this engine needs to drop it in, is a new oil pan gasket, as the one on there is leaking, but I have a new gasket for it that I'll throw in. So basically, change the pan gasket, supply a carb and distributor, drop it in, and have fun.

They are 58cc 1.96"/1.50" valves. These heads were also used on 305 engines, in addition to the 267's, and are commonly used on dirt track stock cars.

I have two good water pumps, a starter, an alternator, pulleys, extra gaskets, Edelbrock (short) and Dart (tall) valve covers, carb and distributer fine tuning accessories, fuel logs, anything else I can dig up. I have an LG4 computer, and even have the stock smog equipment and exhaust manifolds if you want them. The engine even comes with spark plugs. Literally, the only things you need to make this engine run are carb, distributor, fuel, and electricity. I'm trying to clear this stuff out of my hair. I'm sure I have some other odds and ends thing once I start going through boxes.

i thought 305s could only be bored out .030?
also u said itd need a carb? im kind of a noob, but i am trying to stay away from carbs. would it be hard to get a different intake system for this engine?

Maybe I'm remembering incorrectly, but I thought the pistons said 0.040 on them, maybe I'm mistaken. The block was a 4-star reman shortblock, so somebody who knew what they were doing did it. As far as intake system, As long as the intake setup you are using will bolt to the non-vortech style heads you can bolt whatever you want to on top of the engine. You would just take off the carb intake and put on your tbi or tpi intake. Like I said, whatever intake you use just has to have the old style bolt pattern where the middle bolts are angled; not straight up and down. Also, if you want a carb recommendation, for performance, a holley can't be beat. I used to run a 650 spreadbore vaccuum secondary, and actually had zero issues with it and it tuned easily. At the expense of some performance, some people also like to go with an Edelbrock carb due to ease of use and the fact that all you have to do is basically bolt them on and not worry about much of anything with them. Carbs aren't really as scary as people make them out to be. I like them, because you are not at the mercy of your car's electronics. With a simple flat blade screwdriver, you are in full control.

well, thank you for the info. i will have to do more research on the intake system specifics and waht not. i really hope your not in a HUGE rush, cuz im trying to get a hold of a guy that may be selling me a real cheap lt1... he wont respond, but i need more details on that engine also before i can make decisions.

also, as far as electronics go, it really doesnt matter for me does it? since i already have all the electronics with a tbi setup, i wouldnt need to mess with anything electrical correct? (anything major...)

Electrically, everything you have will swap over. You take everything off of your engine that is specific to your car and swap it over to this engine. It will be a direct replacement as long as the intake is the same. If the intake is different, I believe you can get a retrofit intake. As far as the LT1 goes, I don't know what type of research you've done, but you will have to also get the LT1 computer and wiring harness, as well as all of the other LT1 components (Optispark, exhaust manifolds, belt-driven accessories, etc.) You basically need to make sure to get a turnkey engine. I am also not sure what you will have to do to get your gauges to work. Not trying to turn you away from the LT1 if that is what you really want, but if you are looking for an easy swap, a standard sbc like mine will be much simpler.

i really appreciate the help. everything u said, i am going to take into considderation. its just that the lt1 has more potential than a 305... and i DEFINITELY dont want carb. ive just made up my mind on that .right now i have a 305 tbi, so would the tbi work with this engine?

so basically, with what i have in my car right now, this engine can be dropped in and runable today? i pretty much dont need to buy anything else, since i have it all?


also, question: if u were to spray, how big of a shot do u think it could safely handle?
and im confused, in ur original post u say something about the tranny. is the tranny included?

As far as spray, I'm not sure as I've never been around nitrous and know little about it. As far as the tranny, that was when I was asking more for it. The tranny has since been sold.

Fitment: Yes, if you currently have a running engine in your car, you can swap this engine in and not need to buy anything else, as long as your intake has the non-vortech style bolt pattern. If you can send me a picture, I can tell you. If the intake is a different bolt pattern, you would either have to have the center intake holes on the heads modified, or you would just have to get a different intake. I just don't know which intake and heads you're currently running. You can easily tell by looking at the intake bolts. All of the bolts towards the ends will be angled. On a a traditional sbc like mine, the middle two bolts on each side will also be angled. On vortech style heads, the middle four bolts will be vertical. Machine shops can modify the holes in the heads to work, or you can get a different intake, or I'm not sure, but they might be able to easily modify the intake.

As far as everything else goes, you would basically unbolt everything from your engine, pull it out, drop mine in, and bolt all of your stuff back onto it.

pm sent. oh and while im here, what is a ROUGH estimate of hp and torque? i know u said it ran 14's, but that could have been driver, a different car, idk.
