WTB full rear axle, 3.42 or smaller gears

Have an 89 Formula and my rear wheel bearings are starting to go and my differential and drum brakes along with them. As long as it works, I don't care if it's used, and my price limit is in the 300-400$ range. Looking for something with a bit higher performance gearing than my stock 2.73 that came with the auto transmission 305 TBI formula. Wouldn't mind upgrading to disks, either, though it's not a requirement if you have one with drums that work.

I live in Chicago and am willing to drive within reason to pick it up.

Re: WTB full rear axle, 3.42 or smaller gears

If Indianapolis isn't too far,I've got several 3.42 posi rear ends (both shoe and disc brakes) off late '80s Camaros being turned into race cars. These are practically brand-new. They've been thoroughly inspected by our best transmission mechanic. I'd ask $400 for a unit set up for shoes, $500 for a disc unit, $750 for a disc unit complete with rotors. Email indianavette@aol.com for pix, more info.

Got a rear from a 91 camaro with drum brakes and an open diff. It has 2.73 gears and great brakes. No axle shafts though. $50 picked up in MD.
