Just got the thing finally all hooked up. One question though. This is my first carbureted engine......how do you vent the new fuel lines
Obviously there is no electric pump to automatically pressurize the system. I assume that the fuel bowls need filled (through the sight plug?). That will be enough to get the engine started, but what about all of the new lines between the tank, pump, regulator, and the carb that are full of air? Does the carb have a vent to allow the air to escape? Do I have to siphon through the lines until I get some fuel flow? Gawd I hope not since I already have everything hooked up. Guess I should have thought about that earlier (too much excitement so far.)
Some help please 'cause I want to get this thing started up and I don't want to jack anything up. Stats of the engine in my sig.

Nice looking engine,I assume your using a mechanical fuel pump?? If so just start turning it over it will draw the fuel through the line fairly quickly( 15-20 sec's).No need to vent/siphon anything. One thing you should do however if this is a brand new engine is prime the oil pump before you fire it for the first time.There are tool's available for this or you can make one using the drive from an old distributer and a 3/8 drill.(you probably knew this,but just in case) good luck.......SR

on the holley, there should be a vent tube on the top of the carb, you can pour gas in there to fill the bowl up so you dont have to turn the engine over and over. with the fuel bowl full, the engine will have enough gas to start and run while the fuel pump fills the lines and then starts feeding the carb. yes its a very good idea to pressure prime the engine even if you used assembly lube. hope this helps.

That helps alot guys....I really appreciate it. I already have a oil primer from my last buildup (a buddy's TPI in his Corvette). Hopefully I'll fire the beast up tomorrow.
