Wiring the ALDL up with an LT1

I am wondering if you guys who have swapped in an LT1 have your ALDL terminal working. Looking at the wiring diagrams I assume that I could just connect the brown wire coming from the firewall connection to my data link line of my LT1 harness, is this right?

Or can I simply splice the data link line coming from the LT1 harness directly into the "B" connector on the ALDL terminal?

I mainly want to get the connection up so that I can reprogram my PCM with the cable and program that I have.

Judging by my repair manual for the LT1 it looks like the only two important wires on the ALDL seem to be the "A" connection which is a ground and the "B" wire.

Thank you for your help.

Hey just checking to see if you had any luck on the ALDL. I'm getting close to that point also and would like to know too. Any info would be a great help.

Thanks

Yea, I got the issues sorted out and reprogrammed my computer using the PCMforless package if you want to use your own cable.

I used my ALDL from my Camaro and you only need 2 wires to reprogram. A ground and the serial data from the PCM.

F E D C B A is your ALDL
G H J K L M

A=ground
B=Mode Select (you don't need, it is for diagnostics)
M=Serial Data

I grouned mine to Blue 1 at the PCM, and the serial data is Blue 30 (D 30) or Blue 29 in my case.

I will need the dianostic hooked up as well. I went overboard on my Camshaft and need to see what the car is doing so I can try to fix it.

Thanks

That diagnostic wire is only for certain diagnostic tools.

You can run some diagnostics off of the serial data line.

This guy andy whittaker has a really neat diagnostic program for free.

I haven't tried it yet but will after I buy a cheap laptop, which could be a while.
