I would assume when you say 'Block" you really mean "short block". Because if it is just a block I can find you one for $1100.

I would also check eBay- yea I know. Anywhy there are some sellers that have 1 year unlimited mile warranties.

Well, it depends on what you want to use this motor for. How much are you willing to spend on heads/intake/carb. It also depends on what kind of "all new parts" the shop used. Is it 2 or 4 bolt mains, are they new mains? Does it have a forged bottom end? Or are they cast pieces? Has it been bored? What kind of rings are they using? Bearings? What is the cam grind? Does it have a cam? Is it a two piece rear main seal or one? What kind of heads are you looking for? Aluminum Brodix heads would be nice if you could afford them, but most cant. You have to take into account the cost of heads, gaskets, intake, oil pump (including welding the pickup), pan, distributor, wires, carb if you go that route. Figure out what you're going to use this for, and do a search. This topic has been covered before. I got a longblock from rebuilt-auto-engines.com for cheaper than that. Hope this helps.

ebay is out of the question.. I live in Quebec and nobody sells anything in this Province.... yes I mean a small chevy block. Keep in mind this is 1200 canadian bucks so about 800 US... they say the gaskets comes with it... I'll ask for the cam, forged and that kind of stuff... what kind of heads and intake should I get? I want to keep the stock hood for the intake so I guess I'm kinda limited... I don't think I can bring it to that yet, but I aim at about a 400-450 hp... oh and it's a 4 bolts... thanks guys for helping a newbie out

been thru ebay... I dunno.. most won't want to ship it anyway.. besides... even if I don't know much about engines... don't really feel comfy buying a used engine that I haven't really seen first.. once I get the engine... I'll probably stick with the same heads and intake from my 305.. I know it's not very good but money is an issue... but for further referances... someone can help me with the intake, what I can get to keep the factory hood?

I suggest buying an engine thats recently been rebuilt. Just bring long someone who knows what to check out before you buy it, but they are usually a pretty good deal. I got a rebuilt chevy 350 last summer for only $600 cdn! It was no fire breather, but it was (and still is) a very good running engine.
