Hey how much would it cost to get a new engine put in my va profesionaly if i had the engine? im just looking for a guesstimate cause ive heard everything from like 1000 to 7000 thx

 

you should call shops in your area since rates vary alot. i'd guess 15 to 20 hours flat rate, but i don't have a flat rate book here.

How much would it cost to build a new house? I hear everything from $40,000 to $10,000,000.

It all depends on what you want. If all you want is the cheeeeepest possible slap something in there that will push the car around, and whatever you put in excatly matches what you're taking out, and no parts have to be swapped over except maybe the air cleaner, then $1000 might do it. I would expect something more like $1500 to $2000 for a typical replacement engine install, where lots of parts have to be moved over like the intake and valve covers and oil pan, and lots of the old parts can't (or shouldn't) be re-used, like radiator hoses, belts, fluids, etc. That stuff adds up.

Figure a shop rate of $60/hr or so, plus about $400 worth of stuff that has to be replaced, and anywhere from 15 to 30 hours of shop time.
