Please help me pick the right cylinder heads
Hello again:
I'm building a daily driver TPI 350 for my 1986 Iroc-Z Camaro.
What I have right now is a 1979 350 with a Crane cams 216/224 (272/284), 112deg LSA, 0.454/0.480 lift, Keith Black Silvolite flat top hyperutectic pistons.
First of all, what would be the recommended intake runner size for my application? Remeber its a daily driver with lots of bumper to bumper driving but that will be taken down to the strip on weekends. My primary concern is mileage, though.
I'm ordering them bare, so I can use Crane's recommended springs and parts. Also, these are the 72cc versions to keep the CR ratio around 9.5:1 since I have flat top pistons. I'm only considering the iron heads because I'm on a tight budget here.
I have done some research and found the following options:
World S/R Torquers - 170cc - $515.90
World Sporstman II - 200cc - $573.00
Pro Topline Lightning - 180cc - $575.90
I'm leaning towards the Pro Toplines. I found that their flow numbers are even better than Vortecs, but you really can't compare apples to apples because different flow numbers from different sources may vary. Or should I stay with the Torquers and use the extra $60 to get valves or something else?
What do you think?
Any other suggestions welcome.
Thanks for your help.
