I have not yet, the top pin holes were all out of alignment. Had glass tops originally and had plastic tops when I got it and went back to glass. I'm sure new seals will be night and day.

Re: My "new" Camaro

Thanks all for the kind words. Plans for right now are to work on it when I can. Big picture will be 6.0 turbo with built 6 speed, but that's years down the road. Did find out it started life as a v6.

Rough. Timing needs work. I'm going to sell the motor anyway.

Re: My "new" Camaro

Still, play with timing and get it running somewhat okay and you could get 200 easy, that brings the price of your car down to $200 bucks! That's less than you could scrap it for. Either way you've come out way in the green with this car.

Re: My "new" Camaro

Carbs are pretty easy, the very basic concept is there are small holes in the carb that the incoming air passes over, forming a vacuum on the holes. This is where the fuel comes from. The more you press the pedal, the wider the carb opens and the more air passes over these holes sucking in more fuel. You can change the Jets which are sort of like restrictors that will adjust the amount of fuel that can be vacuumed out per volume of air. That's an extremely basic description. But once you grasp that the rest just helps tune the amount of fuel to air (air fuel ratio obviously)

Thanks for the basics. Once I have some time, I'll check it out. It has aftermarket carb and intake. I'll take some pics to show you guys.

Sort of but not really the same priciple. Venturi is air passing through a bottleneck and changing flow pattern. While this does happen in a carb, that's not what causes the vacuum effect. Venturi happens further in the carb.

The pistons going down create a low pressure/vacuum.

pretty sure the air going through the bottle neck creates vacuum, drawing fuel into the engine. Thats all a old 2 barrel carb is.

this is a quote from the link I posted..

Carburetors that use the effect to suck gasoline into an engine's intake air stream

They use suck. My instructor would fail him. "No such thing as suction" only low pressure/anything less than atmospheric pres.

Re: My "new" Camaro

Think I have an engine lined up. 6.0 from a Chevy 2500. Pretty excited. Know I will need the accessory drive from a 4th gen. What else will I need? I haven't had time to do a lot of research yet. I have been reading up on the swap on this site. The wiring scares me, so I may just buy a pre-made harness. Any insight would help. Thanks.
