HSR Install!

Hello!

I'm Currently installing a brand new zz383 with a HSR intake and the Holley Commander 950 system, BUT I have unplugged all of my old wiring and removed it, (engine) and the old ECU and such...

But now I Wonder how do i get the gauges in the instrument cluster to work as Normally ?

Car: 82 Berlinetta/57 Bel Air

Use the factory wiring.

Re: HSR Install!

The Old ECU will not be used ? Should I still have it there ?
and 90% Of the Old Engine wiring would also not be used?

At the time I have ribbed the old wiring out, and installed the new Commander 950 Harness! Do i Really Need the old engine wiring?
Is it not possible to wire the old gauges up to work without the old ECU connected ?

Anyone who has done this swap/rebuild before?

Plz help...

There are almost 2 different harnesses in the car, one for the car and the second one for the engine, but where are these linked together and how can I sort this out easiest without all the wires that leads nowhere with the new system ?

When you say "engine wires", that really involves two harnesses. The power and gage wires don't go through the ECM. They are in the bundle on the rear driver's side corner of the engine compartment, along with what I assume you mean by the "car" harness. They will separate from the ECM harness (which goes to the passenger side fender well) without much effort.

Re: HSR Install!

Yes i see what you mean, but thats why i disconnected the "Engine" read ECM harness from the "power and gages" harness..
But cant fint Engine temp and Oil press plugs to go into the harness?

I have some wiring diagrams, but they are not showing where stuff is...
i dont know what you call it in English but a "Block Diagram" or whatever would be nice to have , the one that I have is too detailed to see where to look for stuff...
The Speedo is by cable, so thats ok, Tach is black wire connected to the dist. that ok. and voltmeter is ok. but Oil press , and ENgine temp ?
there is one engine temp that is connected to the ECU in the old harness. and same with the new one (commander 950)
But I would like the temp gage in the car to work too...
same with the oil press gage.. I see in the wiring diagram that there is a wire from the stock ECU to the Instrument Cluster ? is this ONLY for the Check Engine light ?
If someone has done the same procedure before ( installing a commander 950 system in a car that stock had TPI) i would really like to know how they did it!

and a wiring diagram for the instrument Cluster would also be nice to have !
