Sirs, on Turbo Trans Am can 301 be swapped out with a Pontiac 350/326 instead and keep rest of OEM turbo equipment?

Re: Trubo trans Am

You'd have to check with late Second-gen guys is my guess. I'm not sure how many third gen guys will know. I'm being speculative but the short deck nature of the 301 might change geometry making it difficult or impossible to swap in the tall deck 326/350. I would think if it were feasible or easy more, people would have done it already. At the very least, used the turbo system on a swap into any other pontiac chassis.

Re: Trubo trans Am

No it can not. The Pontiac 301 and 265 are short deck V8 engines. The turbo intake manifold won't fit a normal Pontiac V8 engine.

This guy at TTA Performance can tell you anything you need to know about the 80/81 Pontiac 301 Turbo.

Re: Trubo trans Am

It could work with a fabricated adapter, typical 4bbl intake....or possibly by stacking intake gaskets, but it's definitely not a "bolt-on" for the reasons that Airwolfe said.
I think one of the problems with the 301 Turbo, is the "turbo equipment". It's not great. IDK how many hp you can suck through that carb base, or how much you can push through that little charge elbow, but I'd guess not much. There is no intercooler and the controls (non Computer carb, minimal ignition control in '80?) weren't good. I think it would be just as easy to build a system from scratch that is way more efficient, powerful and usable...and you could do that on any Pontiac engine.
