Don't need new belt after smog pump removal?
I just removed my smog pump and after I took it off the belt was routed exactly like in the picture in the tech section. It says you need to reroute the belt, but if you just take it off there is no rerouting to be done. Did one of my previous owners reroute it or is that how it comes stock? Also after I took off the smog pump the belt still seemed tight enough to me, I drove it and it didn't seem to whine or anything or seem loose. Please help me. Any ideas?
Thanks in advance!

Car: 1999 Chevy Cavalier
Engine: 2.2
Transmission: 5 speed
Axle/Gears: it's part of the transmission
I've heard of people using "gutted-out" smog pumps, it's a little overkill in my opinion, but it will pass a visual inspection and save $$$ on a new belt.the slack released from the smog pump is probably being compensated for with the auto tensioner.
