Hooker Fitment
I can order the Hooker 1 3/4 long tube headers direct from Jet Hot and save some cash. My only concern is do the headers need to be dimpled anywhere or have any clearence problems. I don't want to screw up the coating on a new set of headers. Thanks

I'm going thru this process right now and it isn't fun! There is no need to dimple any part of the headers, however there are going to be some modifications to make them fit. One is a longer positive battery cable in order to route it a certain way to the starter to clear the headers. You may consider getting a mine starter which will give you a lot of room to work with. I bought a CSI mini starter. Next the knock sensor will either have to be moved to the other side of the block or disabled. I'm disabling mine. Also the brake lines that run along the engine crossmember will have to be nudged away from the headers on both sides as they lay right up against some of the tubes. That's about all I can think of. Good luck!

Thanks David, I didn't even think of the cables. I am already running a mini-starter though.
I also wanted to note that I have the straight plug AFR heads.
COME ON GUYS There has to be more than one person running these headers.----------Thanks

A little bit more advice.....buy plenty of beer!! I just fired my car up tonight after 3 days of working on them(one day was trying to get the mufflex y-pipe to fit which it didn't and now I'm getting a custom one made). This is my 3rd header install and the long tubes just flat out suck as far as fitting. Yesterday after tightening up the header bolts I get underneath and notice that on the pass side one of the tubes is laying on the frame where the back control arm bushing is. There was one more spot on the same side and another one on the driverside. All three needed some grinding in order to get the headers to clear without hitting. I have the L98 angle plug AFR's and plug access is kick *** though. Only have one tight area on the #7 plug. Good luck!
