Stuck in a predicament - Flowmaster or Magnaflow?
lol - I'm sure you guys are like, "Great, another this or that muffler thread.."
Here's what I want, plain and simple - a loud exhaust that rumbles, and sounds as great as it performs. Most Flowmasters I have heard have purred more then rumbled, that's why I leaned towards Magnaflow. My buddy has a 92 305 TBI with a Magnaflow hi-flow cat and Exhaust, and it sounds sweet - exactly what I'd want mine to sound like.
And here's what I've been told - the Flowmaster is definately louder then the Magnaflow, but the Magnaflow is better "performance wise."
Anyways, the reason I ask is because I am completely stuck here. I normally wouldn't ask questions like this, but I dont want to get the wrong one and be disappointed after I just dropped a ton of money on it. I wanted to go Magnaflow since the beginning, but a lot of people have been saying go the Flowmaster way, even the guy that works at the muffler shop. Anyways, just wanted to here some opinions from my fellow Third Gen buddies so I can be sure I've made the right choice. Thanks for any input.

Well if you want the maximum performance go with magna flow. It is a straight through design where as flowmaster mufflers are chambered. I never heard magnaflow on a thirdgen, but since it is straight through, you should have a nice loud aggressive sound

I run a flowmaster 80 series and couldn't be happier. Nice idle sound and an aggresive WOT sound. Altogether this muffler has performed beatifully and is everything I was looking for. Can't comment on performance due to the number of mods I did at the time of the exhaust.

I had a Blowmaster 80 series w/ 3" in, dual 2.5 out, headers, and custom y w/ no cat. Was deffinitely loud. - Sold it to a friend in favor of my cusom duals. Anyhow, I heard the Magnaflow set-up the other day, they guy had longtubes and a y(I think mufflex) into the magnaflow cat-back. The thing sonded absolutely awesome. Just tap the throttle and wow!!! - nasty...

I have a Magnaflow and it flows way better than flowmaster and sounds better to. I noticed a difference in performance as well. I say go magnaflow!

I was talking to a few of the guys that built engines for the Popular Hot Rodding "engine masters challenge", and they all ran either Magnaflow or Hooker mufflers, and said they picked up around 20 HP over the Flowmasters on an engine dyno (motors putting out 600+HP, so your *results will vary*
