Post your SINGLE exhaust pics!
Alot of people on here seem to be going for the true duals, or dual exhaust theme. What about the guys/gals on here going for single exhaust. Me personally Im goin with the hedman 68470s with y-pipe, 3" pipe mod of course to the y-pipe, with a dynomax super turbo all before the axle. Ill get pics hopefully in a few weeks. Lets see what you single exhaust guys have!

I have the hedman shorties too, havent changed the Y pipe from 2.5 to 3 yet, dont know if Ill even bother, with a "high flow tubular cat" and a 3" hooker cat back.

damn, that looks nice. I hear ya on the y-pipe modding too. Im still contemplating on if I want to do true 3" or just keep it the way it is. Then again, I got a stroker so it might be better if I did.
Did you get your headers JET coated, or did u get it like that from heddman? Either way, that finish looks good.

I didnt get them JET-HOT coated, im working on a high schooler budget. That is Eastwood silver manifold paint.
I was surprised, it actually lasted all summer! I really was only expecting a month or so out of it, so I could get them ceramic coated this winter. But I may just leave it.

Sorry to hijack this thread, but I had a question for five7kid. When you did have a cat on your car, how did you mate the cat to the y-pipe? Both my cat and my y-pipe have the exact same diameter, so it doesn't "slip on" like I expected it to.
My friend said I should by some kind of piping that allows both pipes to connect by fitting over each pipe, which allows it to be welded. However, it looks like the cat sticks out further than it should because of length of piping on the cat inlet (too close to the driveshaft for my comfort). Any ideas?

I bought a peice of 3" tubing the length of the cat and had both ends enlarged to 3" ID and slipped it in there.

The inlet of the 3" universal cat slipped right over the end of the 2055 y-pipe. I put a 3" clamp on it.

they make a few different types of clamps. Look into either a butt joint or slip joint style clamp. One of those, I believe, is to mate and seal 2 pipes of the same diameter. If you choose to go that route.

Would it be better to weld it on or just to clamp it? I'm concerned about leaks, but I might need to unbolt part of the exhaust for a bigger engine later on (trying to think ahead).

If your gonna be upgrading down the line, it would be best to clamp it all together. Id clamp it all together personally. Unless you have open access to a welder, but even then youd have to cut the pipe and re-weld it. Might look better clamped together with butt or slip-type clamps.

we need more pictures of some single exhaust single exit setups. I dont see many at all anywhere and was hoping this thread would get them to show themselves. I really buy that the single exhaust single exit 3" setup is optimal on < 300-350hp since it has less turns to be restrictive and better exhaust flow characteristics. I'm undecided on if any prefabbed systems are worth the money though, and i'm thinking of building my own. Unfortunately with only dual exhaust or fake dual exhaust pics, i'm not getting very far with coming up with ideas on angles and lengthts and how the finished product will look. So more pics you guys with single exhausts.

that sounds like a pretty good set up. Are you using SLPs y-pipe, or fabricated?

I'm using the SLP Y-Pipe... it will be all bolt-on, I just have to take the Y-pipe and cutout to a shop to have Y-Pipe cut shorter and replace it with a cutout, then I can bolt it all up at home myself

butt-joint clamp seals 2 pipes of the same diameter
Hope this helps.
Formula- are you trying to connect those 2 pipes? That might be a bit of a challenge

One last question: Do the Hooker 2055s come with a "slip into" pipe on the end of the y-pipe? I can't remember what they looked like before I sent them to Jet-Hot but I thought I remember the y-pipe having that sort of end but I could be wrong. Don't know why Jet-Hot would remove that, though.

Made 297rwhp on dyno with cutout closed and 303rwhp with it open. Pretty loud though, I wanted it a little more on the quiet side than it is.

Bringing this back from last week: Here are a couple of mine, single 3", aftermarket cat, with custom flange, SLP headers and Y pipe. I-pipe unknown, look familiar to anyone? Single 3" 'shotgun' pipe on driver side, Originally a Dynomax ultra-flo, but too droning at highway speeds. Changed to a single super-turbo muffler.

I have Hedman 1 5/8 inch ceramic coated headers with 3 inch collectors. I had a muffler shop make me a Y-pipe. There are two 3 inch pipes going into one single 4 inch pipe with flowmaster muffler. I love the way it sounds, but I have only gotten to drive it once because of issues with the LT1.

all I can say about the y-pipe is dont rush! make sure the 2 pipes merge together smoothly. I havent made any y-pipes myself, but Ive seen people around my area do it. Just look at a hedman y-pipe and DONT do it like that! lol

that 3" mod on mine has yet to be completed. And no, I didnt mean that the u-bolt made extra heat. Just that its a pain in the a$$ on mine to get the bolt to go between the oil pan and the pipe. And, since the pipe is so close to the pan, theres a chance of raising the oil temp higher than I would like it.
