Catback or true duals, with lt headers
I know that a 3" catback will flow just as well as any true dual setup. But i have done and lt1 with auto swap into my car and i am running the hooker super comp long tube headers. I know that i can get a mufflex y pipe and then run some kind of catback. But right now im pressed for money as i have gone over budget with my swap already and the mufflex y pipe isnt cheap. I was thinking of running some cheap duals on my car for the time being, i was wondering on some opions, my car will be pushing close to 400rwhp when completed with ported heads and cam, i dont want to restrict the exhaust too much, but want a nice sound, would you recommend waiting and getting the y-pipe and catback, or do budget duals?

i have the same setup on my 92 z28 with the long tube hooker headers, and i have duals going into the y-pipe with no cats, and i have cutouts right after the headers!! it sounds sweet either way!!

Do it right the first time, or you'll just end up spending all the time and money to re-do it later.

Just to get on the road cheap and quick, I would suggest going to some short pipe to get past the trans crossmember, then running the longest glass packs you can find into bends that dump just in front of the axle or turn-outs that exit in front of the rear wheels. Going over the axle will substantially ad to the price and cost, but being so close to the headers, the glasspacks will burn out over time. It will run good, have decent ground clearance and be pretty cheap to do.
