Straight Pipe Questions
I was thinking about making my 92 Camaro true duals by using a X-pipe and instead of running 2 catalytic converters, I was thinking about just not running any at all.
I've done some research and found out that our O2 sensors are not located on the catAly tic converter but on the driver side exhaust manifold. So since it isn't on the cat, would I have a check engine light by not using cats? Or even if I have to result with a Y-pipe would it have a check engine light? And if so how or what could I do to not have one if possible?
Thanks in advance!!

Re: Straight Pipe Questions
You won't have a check engine light with no cats. OBD 1 doesn't monitor the cars like the newer OBD2 cars do. Even the newer cars only monitor the cat indirectly via 2 O2 sensors(one before and one after the cat). The ECM monitors the difference in O2 readings between the sensors to determine if the cat is "there" and/or "working". I've been running true duals with no cats for several years now with no CEL problems.

Re: Straight Pipe Questions
Yes, I have shorty-style headers. That breather tube is not needed. It just feeds the heat from the manifolds into the air intake for cold-weather starts. Since it's before the air cleaner, you can just remove it. If you plan on driving the car in the winter and it gets cold where you're at(like below freezing), you might want to hang into it just in case you have problems with hard starting this winter.
