Help with 82 MSE exhaust
I'm looking to replace the exhaust on my 1982 MSE and install the headers a y-pipe from the "git kit". I plan on installing the rest of the "git kit" as well (Holley carb, edelbrock intake, mallory distributor, etc) but need to replace the exhaust first. Currently, the car will not run with the factory exhaust system as the cat converter is completely plugged up, probably from lack of use (27k) and years of running stale gas in it.
However, I'm not sure what the most cost-effective way to do this but I don't want to install poor quality parts either. I will have an exhaust shop install the system on the car but I'm not sure if its better to have a custom mandrel bent exhaust from the y-pipe back or buy an cat-back kit for this car and then have it installed. This car is emissions exempt and I will not be installing a new cat converter or keeping any of the factory emissions equipment. Also, what would be a reasonable labor price for a full-exhaust install and any recommendations for a muffler or catback kit? Thanks for your help.
