Help w/ ideas

Ok, so first off, I'm a honest broke college student. I'm looking at doing some budget exhaust work. My ideas right now are. 1. New headers 2. take out old exhaust system and make it 2 separate pipes from the headers back. 3. find an additional cat from a junker and gut it out so I can use my one and the other (both gutted)

My q's-1. What headers should I git (good headers at a good price) 2. if I do gut the cats would it cause the check engine light to go off?

The reason I can't just take the cats off is because NC law says they have to be there. What do ya'll think honestly? Please help!

Re: Help w/ ideas

A true duel set up is hard to do on our cars because of the clearence. But it can be done with some $$. I would rule that out since your on a budget. For heards, you could go with some hedman's or hooker. If you want budget look into the flowtechs.
