Single 3" Bullet Muffler
Hey guys,
I am swapping from a magnaflow muffler in the stock location, to a Dynomax 3" bullet muffler (12"). I currently run 13.4's at the track, my car is so quiet that I can only hear the other car no matter who I race .
I am hoping to pick up a bit of ET and MPH by swapping to a bullet. What I don't want is a lot of back firing and popping on deceleration. Has anyone put a bullet muffler in the stock location in place of the muffler? Was there a lot of popping?
On my old car, I ran a 3" bullet before the axle and it seemed to not pop too bad.
Thoughts?

1 5/8" Hedman headers, custom Y pipe, stock mid pipe and no cat. The exhaust shop is putting the bullet muffler on today so I will know shortly how this sounds .

Re: Single 3" Bullet Muffler
Well here is what I wound up with:
I averaged my runs from 2 Fridays ago, and averaged my runs from last Friday to try to make things fair, and here is what I came up with:
Average ET and mph with Magnaflow: 13.6075 @ 101.95
Average ET and mph with 3" Bullet: 13.435 @ 103.54
Average ET gain: 1.725 tenths
Average MPH gain: 1.59 mph
My best pass was 13.40 @ 103.81 . Very happy with the result, it has a nice rumble at idle now too.

That'll show the nay sayers! That's good gains with just a muffler swap, I run 2 bullets and long tubes.

101.95 mph 3500 lbs: 304.82 horsepower
103.45 mph 3500 lbs: 318.48 horsepower
That seems like a pretty good gain for just a muffler .
