Stock style exhaust but in stainless?

I need to replace my exhaust on my 87 IROC but can't find what I think I want - a stock appearing stainless exhaust with the proper tucked underneath exhaust tips, slant and maybe with a 3" intermediate pipe. Anyone know where i can find something like this? Walker Dynomax has the closest but its an aluminized system with 2.5" intermediate pipe.

Re: Stock style exhaust but in stainless?

I know Walker has a replacement stainless muffler, 22354 and is supposedly direct fit, but I don't see anything in the rest of the system other than aluminized

$68 at Summit

Looks like there is another SS one 17556;

The problem with most of these "stock replacement" exhausts as seen above, is the intermediate pipe is no bigger than 2.5".

The 2.5" spec from Walker Dynomax might be an average... I seem to recall reading an old post from a supreme member indicating the stock intermediate pipes were larger on one end than the other. Just a thought.

Re: Stock style exhaust but in stainless?

The stock "3 inch" intermediate pipe necks down to 2.5 inch to slip into the muffler. So any stock replacement muffler is going to have a 2.5 inch inlet.

If you want true 3" you have to go aftermarket. Most of the aftermarket has switched to stainless. Look at Flowmaster's parts, the tips they sell for some 4th gens use stock style turn-downs and will interchange. Chances are whatever you come up with will be spendy and a pain to round up all the parts to work together. That's why you buy a kit and mod it as little as possible.

I have a 2 3/4 pipe not stainless though. But also don't know what brand it is.

Re: Stock style exhaust but in stainless?

FWIW, this is the system I installed on my '90 Formula:

https://www.summitracing.com/parts/wlk-39531/overview/

It is all stainless and is just a bit larger/better than stock, but is pretty stock appearing. The tips that come with it are polished stainless, but if you leave them off, the pipes match the factory exhaust (angle cut tip). Plus you get a $75 rebate through July 31, 2018.
