In my search for new wheels these are #1 in my opinion.
I guess I can understand Ronal closing down the US branch but why not make them in Germany(where I believe they are) and ship the R15s to the US.
I think it's a matter of limited demand. People say they love and want the rims, so every now and then Ronal would crank out a new batch. But, people would balk at the price and so the profit for Ronal was not there...no need to keep making the wheel.
I do appreciate the help a lot. I have to weigh my option before I spend at least double what other new rims would cost. I'm sure you can understand that.
This might be true for that chrome set you are looking at, but mine are not double what other wheels cost.
I read that when they stopped making them they sold the remaining stock for less than $900 for a set of 4.
I don't know about the closeout prices (Fred can speak to that, too, if he wants) but they were over $1k for the wheels alone when they were selling that last batch. More for the colored windows, chrome etc.
That is not what I was getting at. I knew I should have edited that post.
Most of the new rims I'm looking at besides the R15s are about $1000 for the set of 4.
So with that in mind even yours are about double.
How come? It didn't come off badly or anything. Maybe his set is the better deal, I dunno. I just don't have much motivation to move on my price since everyone (says) they want these wheels and they aren't making anymore. My original plan was to keep them in case I get another Bird, but you can't hold on to stuff and take up space indefinitely "just in case" you know?
So, joking aside, you should of course take your time and get whatever wheel has the fit and finish you prefer at the price you can live with!
There is one more set on here that's up for sale just like yours but its pending payment.
BTW, I'm not at all knocking your price. So please don't take it that way.
I did not see that one.
Mine were "pending payment" a few weeks ago. Guy told me he was a recently returned vet, he wanted me to please hold them for ten days b/c they are his dream wheels yada yada. No way am I going to tell a war vet that I won't hold some wheels for him, you know? But, I never heard from him again after waiting for 10+ days
Yea, that is what I'm hoping for on the other set that the payment pending falls thru. He said the payment was in the mail but I sell on here also and we all know how that works out. They are local also. You and the chromes are my backup plan.
I just did a search in the For Sale forum for "Ronal" and do not see any other currently available/payment pending sets from your area...? Other Ronal threads are older, and seem to indicate sold/no longer available.
As for that pit (more like a chip/nick IMO) I don't know what caused it, and I honestly can't even remember if it was there when I bought the wheels or happened during my ownership. Most likely thing seems to be a pebble flew up and hit the wheel there, nicking the finish. I never noticed it when the wheels were on the car, but gave them a close look-over prior to listing them here so I could be honest about them.
Reorganized the downstairs of the garage yesterday, and had to carry each of the Ronals up to the second floor. Boy, are they heavy. Getting tired of moving them. Final bump and price drop to $1400 picked up. If they don't sell at that price, I'm moving them to my other barn where they'll be out of the way and can go to sleep for a while.

You kidding? If I had that cash I'd drop it in front of you without looking back. Great deal on wheels that are no longer produced and within a few years will be EXTREMELY sought after i'm sure.

Do you know of a trustworthy place to have one repaired and possibly the whole set refinished? Just a slight bend on the inside thanks to these wonderful Ohio roads...
And $1400 is an absolute steal for these wheels ...If I had the extra cash I'd be buying a second set.

Reason: I should look thru the thread before asking a question :)
what are your thoughts on shipping to 77565(houston-ish)?
Somewhere, I wrote down how much each of these wheel/tire combos weighs. If I can find that info, I can give you a quote. To be honest, I might charge a small amount for my time, too, as it is no quick task to package each of the four wheels plus the hardware. If you want me to proceed, please let me know.
Yeah...grr...good luck with your sale. I just wish I had the cash right now for them.

Thanks for getting back to me, Alex. Please give me a day or two to get the price to you...I am trying to finish a bathroom remodel that I need to get done ASAP.
I believe that UPS will offer a better rate for a business address, so I will use the one you provided.
Yes, that is correct, for the wheels, front spacers, lug nuts, custom WS6 center caps and the keys for the center caps as well. Let me know if you are interested or have any further questions.
