82-84 T/A, Interesting Stuff

The local junk yard here in Vegas just got in a very nice condition 82-84 Trans Am in. I'm not looking to make money, but just to see if I can help someone out. The interior is mostly gone, and I took the E4ME quadrajet as a backup, but pretty much everything else is there except for the intake carrier.

Original wheels in outstanding condition for their age. I did not see any curb rash on them at all. When payday hits I may run and grab them for myself just to have them.

Functional hood is GREAT condition save for a few rock chips and what not. No rust that I could tell.

Underside. Mechanisms all there with flapper

I'll be on leave until Dec. 28, but if anyone is interested and things are still there when I get back I'll do what I can to help TGO out.

not sure how well it flowed, but the original exhaust on those cars sounded incredible.... I'm drawing a blank here, does anyone remember how they got to 2 over the axle pipes?

I'm pretty sure it had a single exhaust that split into a y after the axle.

I'll take a wild guess and say hoods are $75-$100 there (this pick a part isn't cheap), and truck freight is about $150 insured on hoods. I wouldn't mind pulling it or getting more pictures when I get back into town.

I'll get back with you in a couple weeks :-)

Re: 82-84 T/A, Interesting Stuff

Does it have T-Tops ? Is the original engine still in ? I need :
- a good rust free center bar
- original valve covers with the grommets and the little metal tube that goes to the air cleaner
- the EGR valve
- one sensor that is on one of the heads, I'm not sure which one it is but it has a plastic "mushroom" shape, I have to check on this one.
- 82-84 headlights bezels
- leather e-brake handle (not the ergonomic plastic style)
- one center cap with a gold bird (I don't care about the condition, I'll buy a new set later, but if you have one spare you could throw in with the other parts it would be great)

Interior is pretty much gone. It was in good condition so someone pretty much stripped it. As far as the motors I have no idea.

The bumper covers are all cracked. Personally I wouldn't buy them.

- original valve covers with the grommets and the little metal tube that goes to the air cleaner - I'm not sure if they are original. They have a GM looking sticker that says 305 on them though

The pic-a-part isn't very far away.

I can take a pic of mine if anyone's interested. And yes..... it does sound good! Makes me regret changing it on my 83.

I'm guessing the window switches are long gone?
Shift ****?
Front seat belt guides?
Second in line for the front belt buckle recievers if they're blck/grey.
Front visors if they're tan. If not, the arms for them if they're tight.
One really hard part that I don't know if that car has or not: tach filter. It should be a small rectanguler box ~1" inline with the wire that comes off the tach output on the distributor. Should be in the engine bay near the firewall driver side.
Another really hard part to find: front one piece air defelctor that attaches to the gfx.

That's the headlight bezel. Notice how the corners are "squared" versus the later years which are more curvy. They're held on with torx head screws. I'll go second in line for those.

Thanks. More if I remember.....
