[PA] WTB: A/C Delete Heater Box

WTB: A/C Delete Heater Box
Hey all. Toying with the notion of deleting my A/C. Or atleast removing it for a while.
Im about to start my motor rebuild/swap, and I would really like to clean things up and simplify them. The HVAC box just takes up too much room. Makes certain operations more difficult. Or in the case of removing the header on that side...impossible.
So does anyone have an A/C delete box I could snag? Doesnt really have to have the motor or anything. Just not rusted out too bad. I can paint it...so Im not worried about that.
Let me know what you have! I know they've become a comodity...but I figured Ide try!

If you are already going to have your motor out and are going to be able to have access to your firewall then you could always do the following. This is my current winter project(pulled cab fan and AC off of car and want a "CLEAN" look so created this delete panel)
also cut panels and put them on the sides of inner fender by where the battery goes to hide that hole and one on other side by vac canister is.
Below is how it looks with paint
if you would like I could try to get a much closer picture of it, but I will say that I am extremely happy with how it looks. There are no visible seams as the edges are all the way to where the other body panels and such meet up with the original firewall.

I will say one thing though... it was a pain in the **** to try to get measurements and make the panels that way... in the end... I just had to get my hands dirty and get in there and grind it out. Now I have a template that could work with just about any 3rd gen The only issue with this panel is I had to bend the cab can mount lips back so this sheet of steel would lay flat against the bulk of the firewall. 4 sheet metal screws in area around trans well and a row of 3 bolts for where the stock bolt holes were for holding the wire loom. Little bit of seam sealer around all edges of panel and screwed down tight for a couple days and lay the Heat to it and its not moving any time soon

Re: WTB: A/C Delete Heater Box
i have mine for sale but am selling the whole kit, heater control panel, that specific non a/c box on the inside of the firewall and the heater box in the engine bay complete with wiring. Really the "only" way to do it right and clean everything up.

Ronnie, that's exactly what I would do but I need to keep heat. Early morning commutes and fall driving with the tops out. Plus I need defrosters for steam etc. Thanks for the input and pics tho! Yours looks good!
xpndbl3 do you have a for sale thread? If not, shoot me details.
N/m...found it. Im gonna give it some thought. I might go back to ac at some point. So I don't think I wanna replace it all. Just want to go without for a bit. I'll let ya know!

Well it's only a few bolts on the dash to switch from this heater box, to the a/c one. But why keep all that clutter back there if you are deleting it No more vacuum lines, those vacuum solenoids to fail, etc etc. Really a nice upgrade IMO. I'm just swapping to a defroster only heater setup since I have a 4th gen dash now.

Re: WTB: A/C Delete Heater Box
Hahah I hear ya. Im only ditching the A/C to clean up the engine bay and lose some clutter/weight. But I highly doubt its out for good. The rest of the system only has about 33,000 miles on it, so I dont think Ill have any failures with the vacuum parts. I would like to switch the controls...but that requires switching it all. So for now Ill just pretend that I dont have a/c controls haha.
Im still considering it though... Pulling the dash would also give me an excuse to ditch all of the remaining unused 3rd gen wiring that is lurking back there.
