What do ya think about a Camaro having its doors cut in half on the body crease and then the bottom welded to the car and smoothed out and have just the top of the door open up??? Also what should I do about the fenders?? Now how would I go about takin the doors apart to cut in half and then just weld sheetmetal to the top and bottom of the door halfs to make them clean looking or what...I need Ideas.. thanks for any opinions and ideas

However you did it you'd have to be careful. The doors play an important role in maintaining the structural integrity of the passenger compartment in a crash.

Ya something like that but I am thinkin about cuttin the front fender too and then weld the bottom of the door and fenders together for a cleaner look

Start out by drawing a picture of how you would like the doors to open and what you would like the car to look like in the end, then send it to me.

The Ferrari F-40 has a small slider for a window...sucks if you go to the drive-thru but functions for ventilation.

With the bottom half being stationary, it could very well be reinforced to stock specs. Not a problem.

With the bottom half welded to the rocker/quarter you could make it much stronger then stock… hell, you can weld a ladder type structure to the subframe connectors and make it more rigid then anything short of putting a nascar style cage in it.

The DeLorean does as well, that small piece of metal in the middle of the window is one of its distinctive looks.

hm.. I wonder how hard it'd be to fabricate something like that if you use Lexan.

ahhhh window within a window.... my favorite. here is my personal fav... and I own one too. Here are a couple good pics for inspiration if you want to attempt someting like that on a thirdgen. Won't be easy... wasn't easy for the OEM either. The car below and the DeLorean were both done by the same design bureau.

That's nothing over here in japan there are some older cars there model is SERA, I don't rember who made them.
But the Hole top of the car is like a glass bubble, from the windows up all glass if I see one I'll get a pic of it.
I think there's one down the road from me.
It reminds me a lot of those SERA cars from the way the moving part of the windo is sealed to the non-moving parts.
It looks kind of like that SVX but smaller and with a all glass top.

got to love innovative designs. what if you made the window slide back into the rear quarter panel? it would be alot of fabbing and measurement but it would be pretty original.

If they take a bat to my SVX. I will take a bat to them. But all and all the windows aren't to terribly expensive. Unless they break all 9 of the windows on the car.... then your looking at 3-4K worth of glass and labor prolly.

I do believe it would be next to impossible on a thirdgen. What I would like to see sometime is perhaps some rear quarter windows...kinda 1st gen like. Think it could be interesting. Unfortunately I suck at PS.

I don't think it's Adrenaline's car. That was a custom show car done somewhere, I don't know where. But doing that has to be very difficult to get right.

I know this is completely off topic, but 87F383, what kind of car is that? I have seen 2 around here where I live and absolutely LOVE the look of them. Could you give me some info, specs, or a website on it if you don't mind? Nice rims too

That would be a Subaru SVX. Made from 92-97. They have a flat 6 motor in them and most come with awd although some were fwd. The 3.3L made 230hp in 97. All svxs were n/a. My buddy has a fwd and he has modded his for drag racing. It doesn't do bad as it runs high 14s on motor(bolt ons) and some 13s on a 100 shot.

the one basic question I have is how do you get in and out with the bottom half of the door stationary? You had better be in good shape and not very large. I can see that getting annoying very fast if you're doing anything but towing this thing to a car show.
