Airbag suspension???

I'm looking for an airbag suspension system for my 91 RS , AirRide technologies has an "airstrut" coming out but it lowers the car 2". Im looking for someone who offers a kit or atleast the right airbags to lower my car almost to the ground , car sits 7" off the ground , looking to lower it about 5" or more , however low i can get it without risking damage to ground effects or anything else. Needing the car when fully inflated to sit factory ride height or taller due to clearence. Already have a hard time getting into some parking lots. Not planing on driving the car while slammed. Adjustable ride heights perferably for slightly lowered riding. Fabrication is welcome if ride heights match needed. Looking for both front and rear.

You can use the front bag setup from an s10 with a little modification. Check out my cardomain page or, better yet, do a search. I did an install a couple months ago on a converitible. Just search for posts by me.

Those are pics of the car I bagged. Chris was kind enough to host the high res versions for me.

Thanks Chris.

No problem... I was all set on STRUTBAGS like Jeff had because he said you couldnt compair the ride of airstruts vs just bags.

After talking to Darren at ART and him saying you wouldnt even notice a diff with a GOOD set of struts. I think Im gona just do some bags and good struts.

That one I did rides great. I am going to do my wife's car the same way.

Do a thread when you do yours, especially if you do anything differently than I did.

When are you going to get started?

Not for awhile actually... Im thinking of droping a v8 in a 95 S10 so the vert is on hold since its winter anyways.

if I can find a good deal on pieceing a bag setup together I will put em on this winter.

I really want to get my tubular k member in 1st also. and search into coil over setups.

Can you run a coilover front and rear and bags or does that defeat the purpose?

You can't do both. You would have to run the strut bags in the front and just the bag and a nice adjustable shock in the rear.

Thanks alot. Also great looking vert. I was thinking just go airstrut but where i work already scrape getting into the parkinglot. All the airstruts i came across doesnt have but around 4" of travel and inflated drops the car 2" which would be cool if i didnt have to go up into parkinglots all day long. Did find out from AirRide tech they are setting up a coolride system for the third gen f bodies to give it the travel to set it on the ground yet inflated give an additionmal 1/4" or so over stock ride height. It should be avalable within 60 days or so. Their car's in the shop now getting fitted.

It may get higher than stock, but don't look for it to set anything on the ground. The rear axle simply won't go high enough without a lot of cutting. Same with the front. I had to cut the bumpstop bracket off in the back of the convert and modify the inner fenders and strut mounts in the front to get it as low as it is. Air Ride's kit will probably not even get as low as the one I did for ease of install and safety reasons. I am sure it will be top quality, as all Air Ride stuff is.

Just call SD, tell them you want a set of bag cups for an S10, they will know what you need. They may be able to send you 1/4 port bags, too. Thought they would be 1/4, so I never asked. I just bought some bushings when I found out the ports were 3/8. I am using single port bags. You will not want duals unless you want to hop your Camaro, which is not likely.

I used the 93-02 kit for the rear, I think that is in the thread.
