Cool thanks for the info man. How did you separate the lens from the housing? Did you do the oven trick? If so...can you elaborate?

I wish I could find a set of H6054s H4 housings that have a plastic lens. Most of the ones Ive found are glass...and some of them have glass reflectors too. Separating them didnt go well... haha.

Im going home today, and taking a look at the parts that I have sittin around. I have a set of pop up lights that Im not using, and some spare buckets. So maybe I can do mock up at my APT and then transfer to the car so Im not goofing around in the dark every night. Ill start a new thread and post my progress so I dont hijack yours. There arent enough PROPER HID conversion threads anyway.

Thanks for the compliment, I really think it sets them apart (even if they're only seen at night, like some say, lol).

I did use the oven trick. I set the whole thing on a cookie tray, preheated to ~200F, and let it sit in there for a few minutes. After a couple of minutes, I checked it every minute or so until it looked as though the glue was softening. I then quickly and carefully pulled it out, and while holding the lens with an oven mitt, I pryed it off with a long, thin screwdriver. There will still be residue left over on the lens and/or housing, but it's easy to pull off once cooled.

On another set of lights I had, I tried heating the edge with a torch while working around it - BAD IDEA. The heat wasnt nearly uniform enough and crack, bye bye glass. The oven works great.

About the plastic lenses, I agree that there are really none available without glass. I personally like the glass, but here's how you could do plastic:
Remove the lens. Make a mold of the underside of it out of plaster of paris. Take a piece of Plexi/Lexan that is much larger than your lens and build a frame around the edge of it. Stick the Plexi/Lexan into the oven, same way, until it is almost ready to melt. Then quickly remove it and force it over the mold - it will shape to the mold and you have a direct duplicate of your glass lens in plastic.

I was really surprised, too, about the lack of info there was on true retrofitting of HIDs into these cars. That's one of the reasons I went ahead and posted this thread. Get some ideas/opinions flowing.

Old thread, I know but a lot of the pictures seems to be broken. Could you update this to fix them? Or is the problem on my end?

Not sure what's going on, some of the pictures are working fine but some are not - they're all on the same webpage...you can send me a PM with what pics you'd like to see and I can send them to you, or the links if you'd like.

Just let me know.
