When is your first race?

First practice is 4/3 first race is 5/30.

I am actually debating after this year moving up to the street stock class. For what I now no one runs a third gen Camaro chassis they are legal. From what I have seen done to the front end with the struts on this site I may give it a whirl. This division I am racing is just a amateur division to get some seat time !!!

I'm racing in the street stock class at my track this year with a third gen for the very reason that everyone else runs Monte Carlos and second gens. Every one is afraid to try them

From what Ive been told you are limited with the caster,camber,bumper and anti-dive this was explained to me this morning by a late model Crew Chief. What track do you run at and do you have a link to you're rules I'm curious to see them?

for those who have run a 3rd gen camaro what did you do for front springs? We have a ground clearance rule of 5 1/2 inches and with how big the Front springs are if I run smaller springs I will not make the clearance. We are not allowed to run any kind of spacers I have checked with the race director and we are allowed to run aftermarket springs has long has they attend to the rules.

here our the rules

13. Suspension must remain stock to make, model and year. Front camber can be changed to gain
maximum allowed using stock factory adjustments. No modifications permitted to any suspension
components except, cars with upper and lower A-frames may replace upper A-frame mounting bolts.
Strut cars may change strut mounting bolts on spindle and lengthen adjustment slots at top of strut
tower. No other modifications will be permitted. Coil springs must have the same diameter wire size
from left to right. No coil spring adjusters or shims. Rear coil springs must have at least one side with
pig tail end with stock overall diameter. No solid or neoprene bushings permitted anywhere. Leaf
springs cars must use the same number of leafs per side with no lowering plates. Only stock shackles
may be used. Sway bar must be stock with Maximum diameter 1-1/8 inches. Sway bar connections to
lower A-frames may be altered with no other modifications. All cars must have chassis keep 5-1/2 inch
ground clearance with driver at all times. Unibody cars will be measured at sub frames.
Maximum camber rule: The right front wheel may only have a maximum negative camber of 3”
(inches) as measured at top of tire from middle of sidewall. No More!

We ran our first practice and car seemed EXTREMELLY underpowered. I also at first was not running the correct line. Towards the end of the day I was getting the line down and felt a little more faster. We Made a few changes in the motor hoping to be ALOT faster this time around

Well, we had our first race of the season. It started out crumby because our starter broke right before we were supposed to qualify. When I say "broke", I mean it. The nosecone completely broke off the starter and we were dead in the water with no time to spare before qualifying.

Well, we got a new starter and installed it, but we missed qualifying, which meant that we would be starting "scratch" or at the back of the pack all night.

Nick ended up going starting the heat race in 8th position, and finishing it in 1st. For the main event, he started 15th and finished 5th.

I need to talk to Nick and get some set up advice that car is really moving !!!!!

Great to hear you are running good. Wish i could say the same for my self. 5th race coming up this weekend and I've finished 19-22 so far in the previous 4 races. Cars in my class are very close together. Only a few guys can really charge through the pack on a given night.

camaropurestock - i have 5/12 round by 9 1/2 in tall springs in the front. my ride height is 5 on lf and 6 on rf. running Afcoil conventional racing springs btw

Sorry the updates are slow and short, but we have been pretty busy lately with family and work, etc.

Our second race was on 5/1. Nick got 2nd place in his heat race and 3rd place in the main event. He is currently sitting in 4th place in season points.

Another lame update with no pics. Sorry, I have been way busy lately and working out of town a lot.


Nick has won a couple of heat races and placed third in the main event twice. The car is running and handling great. A brand new track surface with more degrees banking has helped out as well. We still qualify at about mid-pack every race, but we are hanging tough in fourth position in season points.

We did install one of those marine high rise cast iron intake, and that helped free up some power. A guy loaned us his intake and carb with slider plate, and Nick says he feels more power.

Hopefully I will be able to post a few pictures soon.

update on my car cooling and oil control where a huge issue taking notes on the ducting i saw in this thread. Ill all done for the year was rather disappointing but we'll be back at it next year !!!!

My year was very tough just couldnt get suspension down and Believe it or not I went through 3 motors. Alot to do with oil control and cooling. Learned my lesson and will def come back with a more reliable motor next year !!!! We have 1 more race the weekend of 10/8 the Dav and Im done for the year I added some pics and a vid !!! "if you look closely on the fender you can see the rekless racing decal !!!!"

LOL Sure is. I am at no point a body guy but it stays together with duct tape and rivets there is a total of 3 these cars are not common due to the strut front end and uni body design but I love um !!
