i have a friend who owns his own fiberglass shop. right now he told me he can make any part thats almost direct fit with little fab work. hes making me a set of front fenders, but if i can get a bunch of people on a order, i can get a discount for everyone. he said he can make pretty much anything, as long as he can get the part you want to make a mold. please let me know what you want fiberglassed and i can get prices. he is making the fender molds from my fenders, so bolt holes will be a correct match from my factory fenders.

Just replacement parts or custom parts that start with a stock part but get modified? Can he do the sheetmetal modifications to make the mold?

I don't believe the fenders are that heavy to begin with.

What type of fiberglass and resin does he use?

Do they come gelcoated?

Will they have re-inforcements around the bolt holes?

I agree. Fiberglass front fenders will probably be heavier than the factory sheet metal ones. The only advantage is that they won't rust.

There's already an aftermarket supply for the common fiberglass parts. Doors, hood and if you go through all the modifications to use it, a complete fiberglass front end.

One thing that could be made that would be a good reduction in weight is a deck lid. Maybe incorporate a custom spoiler into it as well.

he has been doing fiberglass for 30 plus years. he makes drag car bodies, so im pretty sure he can make whatever you want. i can get more info from him when i talk to him later on tonight. im mainly doing the fenders, because im sick of doing body work on them. cant ding or dent fiberglass.

Aftermarket fiberglass dash pads already exist for Firebirds. $150, IIRC

For the Camaros, the whole dash & pad are 1-piece in fiberglass.

Similar setup on a 'bird hood has been discussed a few times and I know that there are quite a few buyers ready for it if it was done well. I've even thought about financing a production run if I could find someone that would do a good job with good lines (I have ideas there) for a reasonable price point. PM me if you want to discuss this.

who makes the 'bird dash pad?

I agree with the rest, the stock fenders are light, you won't make them much lighter out of composite.

I would want the speaker openings. I think it would be easier to make the camaro dash pad if you use the firebird style speaker grilles.

I'd be down for the 5" spoiler also...

yeah, 400 is totally insane.

and i'm the kind of guy that when a "no biggie" part like that costs that much, i'd rather buy the supplies to make my own, original one. and keep trying and trying until i have it right. but thats just me.

i might just make a 2nd gen style spoiler. saw a thread about it on here, but dont think the guy who wanted to do it actually did it.

haha. i find everything about the 4th gens ugly as you know what. i have a thing for the second gens. maybe instead of getting the spoiler, i'll just get the car. hahaha.

That guy was probably was me. No, it's still up in my rafters of my garage. Furthest I got was making molds for rear fender flares. I never used the mold yet. I got started in the 383 build/swap and that has yet to finish...

The plan was to cast replica rear flares then modify it to fit the front and make another mold of that piece, since the kit I bought off the guy didn't have the front flares. The spoiler would have to be a 2 or 3 piece mold due to the all the angles.

Go to www.rickscamaros.com they have dash pads and layovers and TTOP covered or plain.They have alot of stuff for 2nd - 5th gen camaros.

oh yeah, and fiberglass headliners! i know i am not the only one that can admit that their headliner is beyond repair. mine ended up coming out in about 6 pieces. theres a thread on here about mark's headliner not fitting. i think the price is 200 something, but not too sure on that. but yeah, get a nice mold and you'll be able to open a headliner factory by the way those would get sold...

the price on that headliner was 125...shipping on it is 140. however it is crap and not worth your time or money trust me on that. on top of that the guy is an a$$ hat

i bout one from 1a auto...its not 100% OEM but it fits nice enough in my opinion. if your a picky has to be the same as stock your out of luck for the most part.

Id like to see some fiberglass doors that will work with glass, basically same as stock but in fiberglass. Should be some good weight savings, and if you have a cage w/ door bars like I do it wont be any less safe

a cheaper wrap around spoiler and a cheaper trans am hood with all the spots for the vents is what id like. some bolt on fiberglass without the corporation price rape

As stated earlier, a good t-top headliner may turn a good profit!
Only thing would be the willingness to pay big $ for shipping!!
