Another pop up headlight delete...
About two years ago I decided to get rid of the bug eyes... I dont have have any picture of where i welded a frame around the hood out of 1/4"x1/2" flat steel and then cut out a headlight cover duplicate out of 20ga. steel and welded them both to the hood... here are some during and after pics...
under the hood.
what do you guys think?

Re: Another pop up headlight delete...
as soon as i finish painting this rsx im working on, im going to start working on a fiberglass housing. probably just paint it silver on the inside and a smoked lexan cover in front, with HIDs. nothing super fancy...
i also want to extend the ground effects maybe 2 inches all around the car and have the front bumper level and not in an angle upwards... that more towards the summer...

No problem! I can send more pics too if you'd like. Something like my setup would work perfectly for the creator of this thread.

Re: Another pop up headlight delete...
I like this look a lot. Not sure if you've seen red reifs POP up delete, but a combination of this and his and I think its a Sharp look. Can I get more info on what you used and how you did this. I'm really into this conversion bro, gives it that old devilish 70s look.
Thanks

Re: Another pop up headlight delete...
sorry for being so late on this.. i got lost for a while lol I used 1/2" flat stock and 22ga. sheet metal.. If I were to do it again Id used maybe 16 ga.. 22 is too thin... I bet and welded the flat stock onto the hood then kinda bent up the sheetmetal and welded it.. grind it, short strand fiberglass and body filled the rest... Im thinking of fiberglassing the hood and making it.. nice winter project.. these hoods are already like 80 pounds..

Re: Another pop up headlight delete...
looks nice.. that look like what I had thought of first... My dad threw away the mold for the housing I had made > now I need to work on another one... Im thinking of doing air ride and widening the quarterpanels about an inch this winter..

Re: Another pop up headlight delete...
Well I cheated with my head lights, And its funny you should mention widening your rear by an inch,
mine are an inch an a half wide, both the backs and the fronts,
Here's what I used for my head lights, I got them of ebay
they are for a Nissan 240 sx and I modified them to work .
What did you use for your lights?

Re: Another pop up headlight delete...
I haven't done a write up on this yet, I'm waiting until the car is totally finished then I'll do a build thread on the whole project, But I do have some pics, from the type of flares I used, , pics of the test fit before I cut out the the wheel wells and molded them in, And then decided to modify them more because they just needed a little bit more.
the flares are actually for a first gen mustang , nothing to modify just added fiberglass to make them a few inches longer. And widen them a bit at the bottom , the back wheels are 17x11 with 285, 40's with a 3 inch adapter, those wheels actually fit the front with a 2.5 inch adapter under the wheel wells, with no rubbing what so ever, so they are going to go on once I get my new back wheel, 17x11 with 335, 35 for the back and I'll be changing to 2.5 adapter on those .
If you want any more pics and info on my car you can email me at patrick_day24@yahoo.com, I don't want to take up your thread here, on my stuff,

Re: Another pop up headlight delete...
Probably looks bad because I dont have pictures of how I framed it and then welded sheet metal under the filler... true that I am no master metal fabricator, or no filler would of been necessary..
