Theme Third Gens ?Poll?

Hey guys, Kinda a crazy question but am looking for fellow 3G's thoughts. It is a taste for some and not for others but when done...always cool.

I kinda really am looking to something different then I have done before and with some of the ideas I already have in stone I thought of 3 themes more or less and wounder what ppl would more like to see done.

I have already gathered some part to use in the WideBody and Targa Top, but after that I am open to suggestions. I want the theme to not only flow into the body but interior and paint (blacktopink.com) so you can get an idea of what i mean.

Only hard part is not to change so much it dont look like a thirdgen TA

Themes

Fighter Jet or "ACE" Style/Theme, have seen simural looks done on other cars with gauges and switches, but i would want to go lil further in many aspects (bare interiors with sheet dash, panels and such for example)

3rdGen Bandit Another idea i like and have dipped around before but never really all out and think this could be fun. I just dont like the limitation of it and that in the early 90's they had a dress up kit to do this a bit.
At same time to do it, but to do it and still create a unique look maybe an interesting challenge

Exotic Super TA Look, Something really modern and sleek something that would look more of a modern 3G, interior would need a heavy make over but would be fun to do the ipad dash...

Then of course, if you had a theme idea to suggest, let me here it.
To me, its a hobby sense of enjoyment and considering i could strongly do the body paint and most interior an ez way for me to get involved deeper on my project and have direction.

Thanks

PS I dont even know if this belongs in here, but closes to what i could think of.

Re: Theme Third Gens ?Poll?

I have seen lots of cars recently in the south getting Candy bar, or favorite cereal brand themes... Ok just kidding! Even though I love me some fruity pebbles.

I love the fighter jet inspired "cockpit" type gauges and interior, but really take alot of work to pull off. Alot more than gauge surrounds and switches, RingBrothers are the only ones that come to mind when I picture this look as not being out of place. Search pics of RB Dragon.

Modern is something I think most people that are customizing and modifying their cars are going for around here, so it think modern falls into almost any of the selection, except of course the bandit car.

Its your car do what you like. You already know that some will like it and some will not.

I very much agree with your point of view.

To me, creating a direction with a theme is just fun so I figure I ask.
The modern maybe lil to open ended. Personally i was going for looks verse drive line, of course modern power is a great feature but to create a modern look on an old body, creates a challenge.
kinda like modern styling features integrated in to the classic body.

Had a PM for a Transformer look...which could be cool to do.
Also was suggested a Zombie Response....LOL, which is actually cool to.

Fighter jet seems like it would be tons of fun, especially on the paint side of things.

I mean, whats the worst that could happen...paint it up and in a year get board to re do it....still, kinda the fun part to me.

but thanks for the input guys and suggestions, def help the gears going

Re: Theme Third Gens ?Poll?

I'm not sure what this would be called, but I've toyed with the idea of doing a Thirdgen up like a classic hot rod/ bomber

Satin black paint

pin up girls painted on the rear pillars with some tasteful pinstriping

black diamond stitching and aluminum in the interior.

Classic airplane guages

steel wheels

i know it's out there, but I think it could be pulled off.

Re: Theme Third Gens ?Poll?

I voted Bandit look as I'm a huge Smokey and the Bandit fan. They did use an 83 TA in the 3rd film, but it was nothing great! I say if you go the Bandit look get the Year One 17" Snowflake wheels, make sure to do the gold bird and all the proper lookng decals, even do the flares in front of the wheels. Do the turned metal dash, the second gen sheering wheel and all the other little things that would set the project off.

Re: Theme Third Gens ?Poll?

I threw in a vote for Fighter jet look cause Airplanes are another of my hobbies (retired Aircraft Mechanic here) .

With all due respect to Mr. Reynolds and Miss Field ,

I think the Bandit look belongs on 2nd gens only . Yea I realize they used a third gen in the third movie , but , PAH , the franchise was dead at that point anyway (was the third movie REALLY needed to prove they shouldn't do a fourth ?) ..

To 99% of the public , Bandit is a 2nd gen car . I agree with them .....

I Voted for the Fighter Jet Look, because It doesn't really get any Cooler than that. Switches on the center console, and on the dash. with an Aero sleek, Faster than The speed of Sound F-16, F-18 Hornet look

Re: Theme Third Gens ?Poll?

Lol, yeah agree, always liked the copit look n 101 switches, HIDUp display, Tablet mounted dash, kinda a raw look but really techy feeling...super sleek design. Not to mention that battle look...paint wise you could have a field day.

I also think the bandit look be cool, but when compaired to the 3rd movie....its too bad to want to minic that rendition. Guess I got soft spot for the 2nd gens and think if done right, on third it be cool. But ima have to scratch that idea. not really unique enough.

Re: Theme Third Gens ?Poll?

I am working on doing a fullbody, check out my build "concrete angle"
Custom fiberglass, hood front bumper, rear bumper, fenders/quarters, roof n maybe hatch. Intenttion is for a widebody w fenderflares (started on) targa top.
To get jet look, I been looking at different ideas, super sleek very sharp angles n venting. Challenge is to do it n still keep the 3rd ID.

So ima focus on the wide body aspects to achieve most of the jet look. Alot of the mordern widebody kits for road race actually look pretty areo inspired, just I dont really like the afterburner look.

But paint will def be the key.

IDK if this will give you any ideas of what to do, or not to do, but thought id put up a few pics. i know its for a camaro but maybe it will give you some ideas? i liked the front turn signals and the kinda nascar look to the lower spoiler, but the rest just didnt appeal to me.

im so glad to have this off my car!

Re: Theme Third Gens ?Poll?

I'm in the middle of restoring my bird and I like the new school old school look. Modern equipment on older body. Another idea is what I was going to try in my build was to introduce all gens of firebirds into one. I was going to have at least one thing from a car of each generation fabbed into my car. I put hood scoops from a '76 formula on my hood, fourth gen looking rear spoiler, and rear markers from a '68 welded in. Everything but the rear markers made it.

Ok I am gonna have to search this orange county camaro? i thought it was a joke (orange county choppers pun)

As for YearOne "Burnt Renals" Yes Sir, Baddest 2nd gen ever.

The whole new meets old is cool, dont get me wrong just doesn't solely create a theme and its already something that most of us do.
Newer is better in alot of ways.

Which is why I suggested the Tablet Integrated dash which would work for the Jet Fighter Theme (so want to do this, anyway).

But a Mixed Gen is cool either way, 1st Gen Ques, 2ndgen interiors (and spoilers), Thirdgen body with 4th gen power...killer Gen.

I know this thread has kinda died off but i was just thinking if your still interested in the fighter jet theme i just happen to be on cvn-69 the USS Dwight D. Eisenhower and i could get some close up pics of the F/A-18 Super Hornets or E/A6-B Prowlwers, nothing so close up that it might show anything confidential of course, Though i believe the jets for the most part aren't considering you can pull em up on google

That would actually be pretty cool
I been looking around a bit for the paint aspect, lil hard to explain but I will def have the txture and feel (look) of fighter jet paint wise along with some art. Balancing will be th ev trick.

So of the guys have found some lil things here n there that I may incorperate. Switch panels and such, even a stackic thing...idk...looks cool.

But actuall photo would be cool, google n bing only have so much and I have ne ve r actuall been around fighters.

Thanks!

one thing I was thinking would be cool to do with my Camaro berlinetta was more of a star wars like space ship than a fighter jet since it is known as the starship Camaro but I don't know how well it would work on the Camaro or a firebird

Dude that's Indian. I watched Stargate couple weeks ago and noticed the design fix in back grounds n thought the same in the concept of a spacey feel...or alien feel...

I think that it'll be cool and wish you were closer. I def paint the Camaro in a much style for ya

These are cool
The mustang has the interior well done lamb I has the look just a little basic.

I have so far come up with the idea of doing the plated metal effect... just with a warn look...rust and battle markings maybe.

Man I love the FBomb project, killer all the way around.
Def agree with the rivits...def agree with WWII look too, its so cool to see the art they did and the vintage Feel...

I saw SuckerPunch and the one screen were they were fighting the Germans as well as the dragon sceen all had that vintage look...

For such a simple idea its kinda complex to layout.
If I did the WWII influence, it'll need a name and a logo...like.
I think the modern "high tech" would be wicked cool like mustang, but car is still 80s technology... lol....

Hummm

Awesome feed back though

Re: Theme Third Gens ?Poll?

So fighter jet, American military styling...maybe even to show support for our troops (can incorporated the artwork itself to do this)

Or

Science Fiction, fighter jet-mech warrior feel or bio tech...

Kinda extremes, but...which way would you like to see.

And keep in mind this is because I enjoy this. So your thoughts and ideas count

Re: Theme Third Gens ?Poll?

So I am Highly Considering....

Friend of mine said " since your doing a FighetrJet styling paint job and wanted to do something that would incorperate Custom paint/paint effects and airbrush art....why not do a "Millitary" / "suport our troops"....the fighter jet is already very airforce so focus the art on the other aspects....

I am thinking this is the best idea yet, itll not only meet my personal goals but also add a bigger value to what i am doing

what you guys think?!
