I had no issues with the Hawks cables (82-92 LS1/LT1 Rear End Swap E-Brake Cables Pair - Hawks Third Generation (hawksmotorsports.com)).

It's been a couple of years since I installed the cables, but I don't remember there being anything besides the cables themselves that needed to be installed. It was really a simple install. It helped that I was able to use a Brothers lift. Emergency handle and brake operate as normal with no issues. I ALWAYS set my emergency brake and have since 12 DEC 90 when I bought my Camaro

The brake calipers themselves normally have the parking brake mechanical spring release assembly on them.
