1984 15th Anniversary Trans AM for sale in Maine

I am selling my mother's (a very hip 73 years old) mint condition 15th Anniversary Trans AM. This car is a find for any serious Trans AM collector and in my opinion is the cleanest vehicle of it's type in the country. Car was purchased at Moore Buick/Pontiac in Jacksonville, NC while my father was in the Marine Corps. After his retirement in 1985, my parents moved back to our home state of Maine where the car has been garage kept and covered for the past 25 years. It is driven by my mother around the neighborhood a few times a year during the summer months and has not seen a raindrop since it's arrival to the Pine Tree State. The back seats have never been used and the engine compartment looks like it just left the factory!

Vehicle is totally stock with 14,950 miles and is equipped with an automatic transmission. Only items that are not original on the car is a new GM battery, a GM alternator and a new GM AC compressor which replaced the old freon system. The original Goodyear Eagle VR 50's are still on the car with minimum tread wear. The paint is essentially in flawless condition, with only a couple of very small touched-up chips on the low bumper that are typical of road travel. Again, they are essentially invisible, and can easily be made absolutely undetectable by an enthusiast. There is not a dent or rust anywhere on the car and the interior looks showroom new with no signs of wear or cracks. The white and blue rims are spotless with no scratches or abrasions. The near flawless paint has been maintained with countless coats of wax due to my father's detailing efforts. Again, the couple of small chips along the lower portion of the front bumper would have to be "looked" for. The photos speak for themselves and are completely untouched with the single exception of concealing the license plate. The high gloss and sheen you see in the photos of the paint job is real. There is zero oxidation, and a wax rag still floats down the hood as if there is no friction. If the car ever were to see rain, I am sure would bead with the best of finishes.

My mother is a perfectionist and she has saved the original window sticker and all related service paperwork since she took delivery of the car. The car cover is of course included with the sale. My research on various sites shows that this collectable model, due to it's low mileage, stock form and the show-like condition could be worth nearly $20,000. Coming up with a fair price is difficult due to the low amount of these vehicles that were originally produced (1500), and how few there are actually still on the road. There was a manual version sold out west a few years ago with fewer miles, but it was not totally stock and not as clean in my opinion and it sold for $17,900. Another stock version in similar condition but with about 5,000 more miles sold on eBay a year and a half ago for $21,000. Price is negotiable, and any serious offers will be considered. Again, EVERYTHING, without exception, works flawlessly on this vehicle, as it did on delivery day. It has a current state inspection and has zero leaks of any fluids. This is a true "show-ready" classic, in PERFECT running condition.

If you are interested in this classic Trans AM, you can PM me. If your "passion" is the 1984 Pontiac Trans AM 15th Anniversary Edition, this is your vehicle and it belongs in your garage!

Additional photos for the above post. These concentrate on the interior. You can see it is truly in stunning, showroom condition. The carpet has never been touched by a foot. The mats have always been in place to protect them, and the carpet is flawless and shows absolutely no wear. The dash has so sign of cracking or drying, and the car has never been stored with exposure to the sun.

Dash and mileage shots. All gauges/instrumentation work flawlessly.

The garage the car has spent the vast majority of its life in. Always covered, but the cover removed for this image.

Here is an interesting article about another collector's experience with a show winning twin to this car.

Re: 1984 15th Anniversary Trans AM for sale in Maine

My word, that's a GORGEOUS 15th Anniversary, I haven't seen many, but that one takes the cake so far for all stock factory condition. Definitely worth the price with that low of miles, it's a shame I can't afford it myself. Thankfully I already have my own 15th project. lol

Regardless! That is a A+ Trans Am, hands down.

Re: 1984 15th Anniversary Trans AM for sale in Maine

We thought a couple of good shots of the door pulls/arm rests would be nice to see, so these photos show those areas . We also removed the vinyl protectors from the floor mats up front so you could see the perfect (truly have never seen a foot) condition of even the original mats. This also provides a much better view of the door sills and their perfect, corrosion-free condition.

Re: 1984 15th Anniversary Trans AM for sale in Maine

A little tear drop fell on my keyboard...

She's gorgeous !

There is ONE thing that is not original, it's the radio. This one must be a later Camaro UX1 radio. The original UU6 (top-end radio that year) had red backlighting except on the screen, the power button was grey, the markings were all white, and there were three big buttons under the cassette deck instead of the smaller ones on UX1 units.

Re: 1984 15th Anniversary Trans AM for sale in Maine

Wow! Impressive knowledge. Just got off the phone with Mom. It turns out, around 1990, the power button wasn't working well on the radio. Either wouldn't turn on, or at times, couldn't turn off. So she took it into the Pontiac dealership and they replaced the radio, with what was supposed to be the same 1984 model year radio.

She recalls the radio however, both before and after the replacement 20 years ago, always had the green background light at night. She remembers that she says, because "It always bothered me that they didn't match its backlight to the rest of the interior".

She wanted to complement you on your knowledge, and considered the radio repair back then to be the same as if an electric window motor had been swapped. So she considered the car to be "original" and wanted to be sure you realized there was no attempt to deceive.

Re: 1984 15th Anniversary Trans AM for sale in Maine

Great question!

Number 1, even though I think my parent's kind of like me, they have not offered it to me which means they still have a lot of living to do.

Number 2, if I bought it off them for a reduced (the more attractive son) price, I only have a one car garage and that is reserved for my 370Z. My daily driver stays outside in the elements.

Number 3, if I owned it I would be too nervous to drive it knowing that one little fender bender could drastically reduce it's value to a collector. That is also why my mother only drives it around the neighborhood a few times a year. I think my father has only driven it twice in 26 years!

Number 4, as much as I respect and admire the vehicle, my drag racing roots go back to 5.0 Mustangs from the late eighties. This car needs to go an owner that has a true passion for this particular model and Pontiac history in general.

Hope that makes some sense to everyone

Re: 1984 15th Anniversary Trans AM for sale in Maine

If it was my moms car I would stick the nissan outside like a bad puppy and buy the cleanest third gen I have ever seen.

Good luck with the sale. If I had an extra $20,000.00 I would be all over this. Again it looks to be the cleanest I have ever seen.

I wish everyone took such good care of their third gens when they were new.

Crazy to see one s nice in Maine if all places. These are usually rotted to nothing by now.

You are into drag racing? I used to live up in Oxford.

Used to be into drag racing, but unfortunately there are no quarter mile tracks in Maine and I'd rather not travel out of state to get my fix!

If anyone tries to contact us in regards to this Trans Am, just wanted you to know it is still available. But if my response is slow over the nest ten days, it is because we are vacationing in Maine's lake region for a bit, and slightly off the grid. Thanks for your interest and views.

Thought I'd bump this stunning car to the top.

Absolutely stunning. I just had a flashback to 1984 when a good friend showed up at my house in his new 15th anniversary T/A. I'm a die hard Camaro guy but like posted before, I make an exception for the 15th anniversary model.

That's worth every penny of $20,000 in my book. Especially with the history that goes with it. I wish I had the funds to drive that around the 'hood and leave it to my kids. Props to your mom.

Thanks for the bump nascarfan7, hoping to find that one special individual who has been looking for this particular vehicle so we can get it out of the garage. Numerous car enthusiasts have told us that $17,100 is a fair price even considering the lackluster economy.

Thank you for the answer. Would hate to get the boot from here. Don't think any other site would appreciate this car as much.

After you sell your Trans Am, you are welcome to buy my parent's car. Looks like it will still be available
