hi, im new here and i am planning on saving up money to buy me my first car, i am a big knight rider fan, and love trans am/firebirds, now i know i dont have the money to buy or even think of buying a kitt replica, cause that would take me some time to even get the money to even think of getting a kitt replica, but i do want somethink thats very simular to michael longs trans am before it was turned into kitt, or something very simular, now im not really sure howt to explane what his trans am looked like, as it was only shown very briefly and it was nightime, but i will try to explane what it looked like, ok here goes... ____________________________________________________________ black exterior with t-tops and brown bottom trim(brown trim if possible, not necessarily needed, but do prefer) power windows, power locks, power electric mirrors rear cargo cover with rear deck spoiler without aerowing cowl induction/power buldge hood 15 inch turbo cast rims with fiberglass bowling ball hub caps(so they will stay on better, 15 inch prefered, but 14 inch would do) tan pmd style seats/interior rear side deflectors front fenders with air extractors round shifter knob rear windows without defroster/wiper-washer system automatic transmission V8 Engine with 350+ HP(V8 Prefered, V6 would do, with as many cylinders as it can have, 4 cylinders would work, but the more the better for longer lasting and better performance) little to no rust trans am golden eagle logo on front of hood trans am words on both sides of car infont of door eyelids headlights digital display/gauges(i want this, but regular will do, but if digital is an option, then yes i want them) ____________________________________________________________ as far as details go thats it, most of these features are probably on most 82-84 TA's, i am willing to pay between $1000 - $5000 for this kind of car, now i know i probably wont find one exactly like i want, but i hope i do, so if anyone has one that they would be willing to sell to me for a reasonable price with most or all of the features i wanted, plz email me and i will get back to you if and when i get the amount you ask for, but plz try to not go over board with it, as its my first car, and im not rich, i dont make alot of money, but i am willing to pay atleast $5000 for this type of car, maybe just a bit more, but not much more as my money is limited atm, but if anyone who has one the same or simular to what i want, plz email me, my email is below, anyways, i hope someone can help me out, i will get back to you and to the forums if and when i get the money, anyways, ttyl, peace William Turner Email: darkknightmodder@hotmail.com EDIT: there is a file attached with pictures of michael longs trans am, its the best i could do on short notice, plus there isnt really a way to get the pictures of his trans am on the show, as his trans am is only shown briefly and hasent got very good angels for pics, but i hope these help as to an idea of what i want, anyways, hope they help, plz get back to me by my email(posted above) or by pm, anyways thanks and peace EDIT2: my birthday is comming up on the 10th, ill 20, but i am starting to save $100 each month till im 21, and i will save as much money as i cant during holidays, such as birthdays, chirstmas, ect, plus $100 off my check each month, and hopefully my family will lend a hand once i show im rly wanting this car, so hopefully i will have the money by the time im 21, or not long after, so keep that inmind plp, i want this kind of car badly, and even tho i said $1000-$5000, i cant gaurentee anything, ill probably most likely be able to pay no more then $2000, maybe $2500, so plz, if anyone is willing to wait and sell me this type of car within the next year or so, plz tell me, cause i will most likely be buying it, now i make no promisces, i might get one from someone else not here one this site, but just incase i dont, plz keep this in mind, anyways, i hope someone helps me out, anyways thanks and peace

hi, thanks for the reply, as ya kno if ya read my post and response, i dont have the money atm, prob not for atleast a year, but if ya are willing to hold on to it for say 6 months, i can try and have $1500 by then, now thats not a guarantee, but i can try, but i need to know a few things, so here goes...

-can you show me pictures or videos of your car you wish to sell to me?

-what would the cost of delivery and/or shipping cost from you to me(remember i am in Virginia, and your in Illinois, i may or may not be able to get it from there, it may have to be shipped, not sure thought)

HI man Just thought I would make looking for the right car easier for you. I too am a huge knight rider fan, just look at my car, but the car you want is a 1982 Recaro Trans Am. It was the car he drove in the pilot episode of knight rider and then was later transformed into KITT. It has the gold trim package. but know for the bad news these cars are not only rare, they expensive too. so if you are serious about getting a nice one you can either find a restore able one like I did or save up about $4500 and get a decent one. p.s. how old are you if I might ask, I'm 21 it'd be nice to have someone around my age to talk to on here lol.

@batakitt - i just turned 20 on the 10th, and as far as that type of car goes, i made a promise to friend on my msn that i wont convert that type of car to kitt when i have the money, anyways, the car dont gotta be 100% like his, i just want a black and gold ta with pmd interior and t-tops, it dont gotta be like his, cause i kno i wont be able to keep one up, i dont rly got the money to do it, but the main reason is cause someday i want a kitt replica, i guess i wanted michael longs cause i wanted accuracy, then i relized that dont matter, but a black and gold ta with pmd interior, t-tops and the logos would do me good, and the wheels, but for now im savin money, ill let ya kno if and when i get the money

Just so you know Michael Long's Trans Am was a 1982 black and gold car with a tan interior. (I didn't see your last post, you had said "brown" in the first one.) It had the TH350 transmission and a V8 engine. What V8 is a matter of debate as it was never revealed in the TV show. The VIN of the car in question is unknown, so we will never know for sure but I do know that it was one of the first two third gen Pontiac Trans Ams off the production line. They were delivered early to Universal Studios for filming the pilot episode. More cars were purchased later. This information came from Glenn A. Larson himself in a featurette found on the Season 1 Knight Rider DVD. (US release.)

The car had 15" turbo fin rims, D42 cargo shade, CC1 T-tops, power windows, locks, and seemed generally well optioned. The car is often mistaken for a Recaro Edition car by many websites though the seats are clearly PMDs and NOT Recaro seats. Since you only get to see the car at night it is unknown if it had the rear defroster, but KITT certainly didn't. Whether or not KITT was actually Michael Long's Trans Am converted is another matter up for debate. Most people generally accept that KITT was built from that car but I refute that as unlikely if not impossible.

If I were you I'd go for any 1982-1984 car as converting one to look like the car in question would be easier than it is with later years. If you do go for a newer car then it would be best to get a Formula or base model Firebird as they are easier to convert to look like the 1982 Trans Am than the 1985-1992 Trans Ams are. If you could find a 1982 car that would be best as you'd have an easier time building it as there would be less parts you'd need to get. One of these days I'll either buy such a car or build one myself. I actually bought a mint condition "round" shift knob from the junk yard recently with that eventual goal in mind.
