Hey guys, I hope this is the right board to ask this on. My aunt and uncle are selling their 1989 Camaro RS. The car has only 12.7 miles (not 12.7k, just 12 miles and 7 tenths). It was a customer special order car. The guy bought it special order, drove it home and parked it, my aunt and uncle bought it from him a few years later. Car is mint, even has the hanging dash tag from the dealer still in place. Any help on a fair asking price is much appreciated!

To be honest, I don't know, but I'm curious about something, if you don't mind. Was the car started up and ran constantly? I think that might help determine how much the car is worth.

That and the fact that it doesn't have A/C.
On the plus side it does have a 5speed!
Yeah, the 305 tbi kinda blows, but the a/c delete is cool, it does have a 5-speed and t-tops in it's favor too. And I've never seen a 3rd gen with this few miles, ever.
I believe it was started and ran, I can find out for sure though. I would assume it was, b/c they had a 21 mile Harley parked next to it too and kept that for years and I remember them starting it up every so often before they had the camaro.

wow that is truely amazing... shouldnt a car be started once a month to keep the fluids circulating and get the oil through the motor... i dont know what the procedure is but i think its something like that... i wouldnt even sell the thing if it had that kinda milage... what a dream :hail:
Personally, I'd take a 150K mile IROC over a 12 mile RS anyday 'cause I'd just drive the Hell out of it anyway! However it would be cool to see one in mint condition.
That is a rare car! I've posted here and other sites trying to get someone to tell me what the factory paint marks look like and what their location is on the drive shaft, tie rod ends, sway bars, etc. under the car or pictures. I don't know of anyone that has taken pictures to document the entire underside of a low mileage third gen. Camaro. If you get the opportunity you ought to do that. And if you do I'd appreciate it if you could at least tell me what the colors are and what they look like if you have time.
I'm wanting to paint the marks back on a '90 Iroc I have.
12 miles?! I recall hearing of a 10 mile Third Gen once or something but this is still crazy! LOL.
I'd say $7,000-$8,000 if it needs stuff from sitting all these years like that, $9,000-$10,000 if it's perfect maybe from someone that really wanted a low mile Third Gen to show. The fact that it's an RS and no A/C is a little tough. Most people in the "looking for a mint Third Gen" category are usually looking for the limited or best regular production stuff like L98 or LB9 T5 G92 IROC-Z's or Z28's, but there are exceptions out there.
Thanks RSraider41 for the info on the factory paint marks on a low mileage Z 28. It's an '86 and mine's a '90 but it should be about the same. There are lots of good pictures there.
figure the price of the car when it was new, then take off about 2500-4k. that being said because when a car sits that long, there are certain problems that will arise. unless it was stored in a climate controlled garage, filled with nitrogen, odds are the tires are hard as a rock, as with most of the vacuum lines, if gas was left in the tank, there is prolly some varnish in there, the lifters and such may need replaced, most likely from the oil sludging up. rotors could have 3 inches of rust, shock ansd struts could be flat. there is a long list of thing that can quickly have 12 miles on them, and go to the condition of 50000 miles just by turning the key or rolling around. Essentially you have a very new used car, that will need some work, but has a higher turnout investment wise

Sorry guys, haven't been over there in awhile. I'll get the pics as soon as I can. The 12.7 miles is real.

Hi all,
Please give them a braek!
Price is going to be in the eye of the beholder.
It all depends on what somebody outthere is willing to pay for the car.
It it Barrett Jackson, the car would most likely go for more then what is paid for. My estimate would be about $18,000 or more.
It all going to boil down to:
1_ How it was stored.
2_ Does it run
3_ etc.
Happy New Year!

drooling.......i thot i had low milage??!! 58,183....original. ive seen cars up here in new england w/ 40000 having an asking price of 11000, personally i think theyre crazy. i got mine for 2k.
Since mention was made of mileage and today being New Year's Day, I thought I'd announce that my car is sitting in the garage with 11,999.66 miles on it. You might ask how that is? The odometer is 2/3 rolled to 12000 miles. Today, I will cross that barrier. It's hard to believe that 2.5 years ago, I rolled into SuperFest in Ann Abor Michigan at 10k miles!!! A new landmark
It's not mine to keep. If it was, it wouldn't have 12 miles on it, or a 305

I just looked at the auction and the pictures....I hate to say it, but that car will not sell for the 14500. It would be nice to see, but it won't happen.
The car has the base interior, no power locks or windows, base radio , etc. Although nice, it won't bring those numbers. Id think closer to $9000 is all that'll be seen. To bring higher numbers, the car needs to have all the options. A low mile base car isn't desirable enough for people to pay top $$ for.
scott my L98 1991 Z28 has 14k org miles.. I dont even think its worth 14,500... Even when i bought it with 10k org miles it wasnt worth that much.. It seems like a CLEAN car, 12.7 org miles is amazing, but what happen to your DASH emblem? Did it fall off? With that low miles i would think it would still be on..
I think it would sell better if you detailed the car and took some high resolution pictures.
Kevin

Agreed with SM, it isn't worth that much. Hope for someone that knows nothing to buy it. I will quote myself:

Thanks guys. Again, it's not my car, and I have no idea what my aunt and uncle paid for it or need/want to get out of it. All I can say is that it is what it is and is as advertised. A very, very low mile, absolute mint condition 89 RS w/ 305 TBI and 5 speed. I personally would never buy such a low mile car of any kind, I like to mod my cars and drive them HARD. So it'd be a waste for me. But someone will pick it up eventually, just don't know for how much.

Question i was looking at your pics and i noticed the black cover is missing were the nose of the car is. " you can see the radiator" did some cars not come with those black covers?
