Questions about my new car...
Well I just got it the other day. I have some questions.
Are my headlight pockets supposed to be black?
Is there supposed to be a Tuned Port Injection emblem on the rear?
Is there supposed to be a stripe that runs on top the GFX?
I have seen the IROC stickers in different places. Are mine correct?
Also, where can I get some new sunvisors?
If there is anything else you notice let me know.
Thanks!

1985-1987 iroc sticker on door front same position
if ur car has a stock TPI engine it should have the tuned port injecction
on the back and i think under the z28 badge below doors,
the iroc head light pockets are suppose to be black
i recommend u paint them black because it gives nice agressive looks to the car,
and the rear wing is an after market piece

I have an 86 z28 and it says tuned port injection under the z28 logo on the side ground effects, so it should probably be there too on yours.
Also, were the z28's also supposed to come with black headlight pockets.
You might have a z28 and not an iroc. Chech the production date on the inside of the driver door. I dont think they started to make irocs until later in the production.
Sweet car though. I love the white.

Oh, and I don't think the molding running across the doors is supposed to be painted like the car. Mine is like textured black plastic.

I thought that the iroc model didn't come out until the later productions of the 86 models. Unless I am just thinking of when the 145 speedo came out. Because that was late in the 86 productions. But I figured that was when the iroc came out. And about the molding. Is that just on the irocs that it should be the same color, or is it on every camaro, and should the headlight pockets be black on the z28's? Thanks a lot.

The IROC model came out in '85
Pockets should be black (on ALL models, i think)
not sure about the molding

The moulding on the door is not for an 86. The 86 moulding was thinner and was available in black or body color.
The IROC-Z was introduced in 85 and all Z28s came with black headlight pockets. The IROC-Z was an option on the Z28 from 85-87, so they both have black headlight pockets.

I think unless proven otherwise you have a car, that is NOT a IROC-Z. If you do bot have RPO B4Z you have a fake.

88-90 had IROC-Z badging (bumper and gfx), but 85-87 had Z28. IROC-Z was on the doors (sticker) and on the dash on 85-87

sorry, didnt mean to sound pissy.. hehe, was just in a hurry..
hehe, the dude hasnt responed back yet.. CHECK THE RPO's! hehe, B4Z is the magic code.. If you dont find that, just make sure u find Z28, otherwise its just a complete fake, instead of a Z28 made to look like an IROC

That's not even the later style door molding. On the later style, the front and rear pieces are the same size, shorter than his rear pieces and REALLY shorter than the front pieces.

I have never seen an IROC with factory black body moldings, has anyone else. Also, the dash should say z-28, with the IROC below it. I believe it should have an oil cooler.

Wow, I meant to add if you are not 100% sure than don't respond! So much misinformation here.
Yes, it is a true IROC. I checked that before I even bought the car. Paint is FUBAR underneath the bra, or else that thing would be gone long ago.
My dash emblem says Z28 Tuned Port Injection, but no IROC mention. Seen it both ways, anyone have a definite answer? Body side mouldings I could care less about. I was pretty sure it was supposed to have black pockets. But the front end has been repainted once. The rest of the car appears to be stock paint, unless they got a really high end paint job. As far as oil cooler, it does not have the KC4 option. The TPI under the side GFX emblems I have seen and heard mixed things. If anyone could give a concrete answer, I would greatly appreciate it.
And yes, I do know it has an aftermarket spoiler. Contrary to popular belief, I do know a little about these cars.
Thanks for your help guys.

Well the dash badge is from a regular Z28 without the Iroc-z option.
85-87 Z28's with the TPI engine and without the Iroc-z option had a dash badge that said Z28 with tuned port injection below.
Iroc-z's had Z28 with Iroc-z below that.
Sounds like someone swapped dash badges on yours.

Here is a 100% stone Stock 87 5.7 Iroc. I bought it new and have all the paperwork so I know its untouched. I forget what year yours is or which year had the third brake light on the outside of the hatch. It appears the door IROC-Z stickers may be mounted too low as well. Again I can really only speak for an 87. The RPO sticker with matching Vins and B4Z on it is probably your best bet for authentication.

Cool thanks for the help labrat and solocus. It does appear the badging is slightly off, though I want to see a 86 to be 100% positive.
Any one know the part numbers for the correct IROC-Z dash emblem and the rear TPI emblem? I saw that Phoenix Graphics have the TPI badges for the side skirts, are they reputable?
Thanks
Sean

Since 85-87 had both the Z28 and the IROC-Z package, RPO B4Z designated the IROC-Z. In 88, the Z28 was discontinued and the IROC-Z was the only performance model. With that, Z28 designated an IROC-Z from 88-90. This kept the Z28 as the ultimate Camaro.

Original 1987 Iroc-z except for the wheels. Either the car has RPO B4Z

Looks good though.
My observations:
Dash Badge is WRONG. It should say IROC-Z in little letters beneath the Z28.
It should say "Tuned Port Injection" on the rear bumper.
I believe but am not sure, that it should say "Tuned Port Injection" beneath the Z28 rocker emblems. My neighbor has an 86 Z28 Lb9, not an IROC, and his says it.
Try classic industries for some help locating these parts.
Try your local junkyard for a set of sunvisors.
