B4Z ?

I have an 88 IROC-Z coupe. It has the B2L code as well as the Z28, but no B4Z, I thought it had to be B4Z to be a real IROC, but i was cruising the board today, and saw that they dropped the Z28 in 88 and only made the IROC. this thing is loaded with the split rear seat, 4 wheel discs, 9 bolt(sorry *** 2.77), locking rear stoarage, delco bose stereo, and even a darn engine block heater. Plus the stuff in my sig. So my question is can you have an iroc-z without the B4Z? thanks guys

yes you can, B4Z wasn't used from 88 up. Decode the rest of your vin and see what you find. Do you have Z28? I'd say your car is probably legit its just a matter of finding the right code to verify it.

From 85 to 87, the IROC was an optional package added to the Z28. In other words, you had to have the Z28 RPO for the B4Z RPO to exist. In 88 when they did away with the Z28 package, they still used the same RPO hierchary, so as far as the RPO codes are concerned, the Z28 code still appeared. Since the IROC was the only "z28" offered, the B4Z code was not necessary. The Z28 RPO was enough to identify the car as an IROC.

thanks guys, when i first bought the car i had an 85 z28, i then sold it to my brother(was an lg4 now flat top 350) when i first got into the rpo codes i thought i'd been took. i know of several people who thought they were getting irocs when it turns out they were not. one really stands out. it is a bright red lo3 car with the red 5 spoke wheels. but it says iroc-z on the door. but thanks again for the replys and letting me know i didn't get a z-28 that someone just slapped some stickers on the doors.
