23 miles, of course it could be because I swapped in a autometer speedo with a new odometer though

My buddy has a TTA with under 6k miles and I know of three more here in MI with under 100 miles and several with 1k to 5k on them.
There are lots with under 20k and the general consensus is the average TTA has about 36k on her.

I know a guy that has a Yellow '86 IROC, never titled, with less than 600 miles (I believe it was). It was sent by GM in '85 to the Auto Fair at Charlotte Motor Speedway to be displayed promoting the new IROC model.

My 83 Z28 reads 60,XXX miles. Pretty sure those are original. I've only put 19,000 miles on it since I've owned it (about 18 months)

I had a '68 Camaro 396 SS/RS for 16 years. When I sold it in '02 it had 71k and had 41k on it when I bought it. I sold it and bought a '94 Z so I could drive and enjoy. IMO unless you have something extremely rare, drive it, enjoy it.... If not, your missing out on the fun....

Looks like all you need is an 89 to complete the series. BW does your 83 have its original battery???? If so can you send me a picture also I would LOVE to have a picture of your car. And do you know what color the original oil filter was???

My '85 IROC has 3,780 miles. My '89 TTA has 1,210 miles.

Mike M

Although not a 3rd Gen (other than it's a C3 Vette), my '82 Corvette Collector Edition has 454 miles.

I like low mileage GM cars!

Good question, I bought the car almost two years ago and haven't seen it since the day I bought it. I took it straight to storage and that's the last time I've been there. I've actually been planning to go pick it up one of these days so I'll see what it has.

Andy, I'm jealous of the '88! I'm not sure I'd give it to a kid as a graduation present, since I've yet to meet a person that age that could preserve that car in the same condition his dad did.

Congrats to all your garage queens. I seriously think all your cars are sweet. But my 92 vert has 118,347 on the odo. She's just as pretty as new, and she has had a FUN life with lots of twists, turns, tire squeals, and stoplight-to-stoplight drags. It is a shame to let these cars sit. All you will get is leaky seals all over and a bunch of mechanical problems. And for what? So you can sell it for a little more? Who gives a crap. A car is a CAR, not a trophy (unless you have a vert Formula 350, TTA or a Firehawk)

My 86 Z28 has 119k on it and even though I've fixed it up I've always really wanted a low mile original. Last year I got a great deal on my 89 Iroc with 27,280, it now has 30,452 on it. I haven't driven the car since early September and don't plan on driving it anytime soon. I just hate putting miles on the 89, so it sits at my dad's workshop and I drive my 86 once or twice a week instead. Kinda ironic isn't it, I never drive the car I've always wanted.

People need to understand what pleases one person, may not please another. I put 700 miles on my car this year, and it was enough for me. Yet other people might need to atleast put 2000 on to enjoy the car.

This thread was opened asking for low mileage cars, not opinions. Everyone has their own reason for owning the cars they own. For those that have high miles, keep your opinions about those of us with low miles, to yourselves and not in this thread. Thanks

Thank you Scott!!!!!!!!!!!!, It amazes me that there are quite a few low mile cars out there. The one thing I want to chime in on about those with the opinions. Last time I checked I don't believe you bought my car, washed my car, serviced my car, or otherwise had anything to do with my car - it's mine its paid for and it I want to plant flowers in it, park it in the front yard and throw rocks at it that would be my business. not yours. I'll enjoy my car my way, you enjoy yours, your way. ---Now that that is said---
In all eras of Camaro's, the low mile cars are usually the ones left unrestored after the others are gone, think about this guys which would you rather have a bone stock LOW MILE UNRESTORED PERFECT ORIGINAL 69 Yenko Camaro or a restored high mile 69 Yenko. These low mile original cars are actually pieces of Camaro / Firebird History. Remember some day when these cars are being restored (like the first and second gen cars now) someone will need a point of reference to see if thier car is "correct" - We will have the answer. Congrats to all you guys with low mile cars out there, you are a real asset to our hobby and to the future of our hobby.

Itd be interesting to see who has the highest miles on original drivetrain...than maybe I could contribute to this thread, then again who knows if their motor or tranny was ever replaced unless theyve owned it from day 1

Follow that thread, there is a 1LE with 89 miles and another with 248 miles...

Neither I would trade for either of my cars.

I had a 92 Rs Heritage w/ 45,111 miles when i bought it...unfortunately a year to the day after i got it, it was totaled in a freak rainstorm. At that time it had 49,xxx miles on it. Most of those miles i put on in that year were driving it to school (my HS was more than 15 miles away from my house...so like 30 miles a day x 5 days a week= 150 miles a week just driving to school. I didnt even drive it in the winter either.

Now i have a 1992 Z28 Heritage that has 29,xxx miles on it. I've only put about 200 miles on the Z28 for a few reasons....
1. I only had it for 3 weeks before i came to college (and believe me, the Z will never set foot inside the city limits of Pittsburgh)
2. Since i'm out of HS, i can pick and choose where to drive it...meaning it only goes to the gym and to friends house, AKA--alot less meaningless miles.
3. I won't drive it when theres even a chance of rain (because its Black, because of what happened the last time i was in the rain with a Camaro, and because it has t-tops)
So needless to say, i'm not gona put too many miles on this.....

My 1988 Trans Am Hardtop 350 has 33,000 miles. I bought it earlier this year with just shy of 31,000 on it. Once I finish the rebuild of the engine, I plan on enjoying it as much as possible during the spring, summer and fall. It's a shame that some people feel a car with 33,000 miles (for example) is more of "automotive history" than a car with 133,000 miles in comparable condition (and trust me, I've seen many, especially at Trans Am Nationals).

A nice Third Gen is a nice Third Gen regardless of what the odometer says. I would never feel the need to tell someone what I think they should do with their car, but my own feelings are as follows:

At TA Nats, I see a TTA with 4000 miles on it, look at it for a minute, scan down the row of identical TTAs with super low mileage, and move to the next row.

I see a black, t-top, all original, unmodified 91 Trans Am that looks SHOW ROOM new inside and out, with 197,000 miles on the clock and my jaw drops to the floor. I pore over every inch of it looking for some evidence that this car has been abused, neglected, etc.....and I don't find any at all. It has simply been _driven_. THOSE cars impress me to no end and thrill me to look at and talk about, and I (and the owners I'm sure) would find it insulting to be told the car is somehow not a piece of history, even in mint condition.

Again, this is not a thread about peoples opinions of low mile cars! Any more opinions, and this thread will be locked.

I'm not trying to be a jerk, but for years, there are plenty of people speaking their opinions about "How can you not drive it?" People own cars for different reasons. I challenge any one of the highly opininated people to spend more than normal to buy an extremely low mile car and not change their thoughts of how often it gets driven. We don't tell the guys modifying their cars or the ones with high mileage that they need to park the car do we?!

I think we all agree that a high mile car in mint condition says alot for the car and the owner. No dispute there. I recently saw an 83 Monte Carlo SS at a show that had 5100 miles on the odometer. The car was gorgeous and then I find that the car was just restored and has 105100 on it. I would prefer to not have to restore a car to get it mint again, but this Monte stood out. It goes to show that you can drive them and then restore them or you can keep the miles low. IT'S THE OWNERS CHOICE!

Whether you restore or preserve they are BOTH hard tasks believe me I have done both. I restored to 990 point quality a 1958 Impala and 992 point 67 Camaro. It took years and thousands of dollars. My 83 scored 986 and is not restored, losing points for incorrect battery -4 incorrect oil filter -10. I will tell you that 83 is harder to keep in its condition because if I need to replace a belt, hose or whatever, Its not off to the repro shop - its NOS or nothing. Basically it is hard to keep an ALL original car, ALL orginal.

i drive my car as least as possible for a few reasons. One is about insurance. if the car gets wrecked and its not my fault, the insurance company will only give my blue book value (like $3000) for the car, then i would be quite screwed out of a few thousand dollars. Another is because the more you drive it, the closer you get to some mechanical failure lol. The more you drive it the more parts get worn and your frame gets weak etc. I also dont want to wreck the car myself. it gets dirty when u drive it. there are plenty of reasons why to NOT drive a car.

now my car has 86k miles on it. its OK milage, but its not very low. thats one of the big reasons i dont drive it cause i get a bad feeling inside every time the odometer goes from 80k-81k, 81-82 etc. i bought the car in june 05 with 80k miles and i feel ive done a decent job keeping miles off of it seeing as its my primary daily driver. my dad lets me borrow his car sometimes so that helps.

but if i had a car with 30k-50k miles, i would drive the piss out of it. it would be almost worry free driving for many years. if i had a low milage 3rd gen i would drive it all the time and not worry about the miles untill it got up to 70k or so.

you guys are real lucky to have such low milage cars, hold on to them

My 90 just turned over the 300,000 mile mark. I think it still has about 700,000 miles left on it. So at 300K I think it is low milage.

All on stock original drivetrain too.
